Dear Brad Miller

There are no excuses for Brad Miller... NONE... Not only did he sit and whine, commit a horribly stupid flagrant foul, but down 3 in double OT, with 50 seconds left, Brad missed a shot on a good no call, and INTENTIONALLY FOULED (should have gotten a T or a flagrant for it because he literally swung at him) him to put them up 5 all because he was a big baby.

This is the NBA Brad. You're 30 years old. It's time to grow up. He gets no respect from the refs, and with the way he acts out there on the court he doesn't deserve any either.

Actually while I don't think the officials actually bait Brad, I do think they go out of their way to not give him the calls once he shows any kind of emotion. But telling him to stop is easier said than done. And him having such an expressive, easily recognized pouty face doesn't help.

Brad can't hold his water and thinks he gets fouled every single time down the floor. He is that guy on the pickup court who calls foul every single time he shots the ball. You know the guy. It is pathetic.

No sympathy. None.

I am pretty sure the officials are baiting Brad because they don't like him and he doesn't like them. He is a player that needs a poker face. I get tired of his whining, actually it really annoyed me last year and was one of the reasons I wanted him traded last year, but it doesn't remove the bait and trap stuff I've been seeing officials do on him. A lot of players complain about the refs a lot, but they aren't immediately called for a foul on the other end almost 95% of the time after the refs blow a call on the previous play. Brad has to realize he is being marked out and poker face it out.

I don't see any other way for him as a player to play right now. This isn't sympathy for Brad, it is just reality. If he is getting pushed around on offense, it doesn't mean that is how they are going to call the game. He has to realize this. He could avoid fouls by just knowing that a no-call means the officials are watching and waiting on him on the other side of the court.

That's hooey -- the reason Brad is called for a foul on the other end so often is because unlike most people over the age of 5 or so, he simply cannot control his emotions and as soon as he feels he is "wronged" he will promptly run back and whack somebody to show his displeasure.

Or like tonight not even bother running back and just commit an idioitc intentional frustration foul. Controlling you emotions, sucking it up, pick your term, but Brad does not do it. The world is against him, its just not fair, and he'll show them by acting out and costing his team points. That'll show 'em.

I see other players do the same thing and not get called every time like Brad. There are cases where he is obvious with it, but take a Duncan, who can feel he doesn't get a call at one end and come back on the other end and play physical defense without immediately getting whistled. The officials treat players differently. Artest can feel he gets a no call and come back to play very physical.

The common sports cliche is something along the lines of "If you are getting hit hard on one end, realize thats how the officials are calling it and be aggressive back on the other end!" But that isn't currently how it is working for Brad.

Granted, his facial expressions and rep is why this is so, but its still baiting and you have to realize it as a player. You can better control what you know is coming.

First of all, Tim Duncan may complain, but he doesn't flip and lose his lid like Brad Miller. Not only will Brad flop around, whine about every call, but then he will do something on the other end intentionally to show up the refs (slap the other player, swing an elbow on a board, shove a guy, etc.) Tim Duncan for the most part, shows emotions for about 2 seconds, and then pretty much regains composure and talks to the refs like a normal human being.

Also, Tim Duncan is a superstar. He is freaking Tim Duncan. Of course he's going to get the calls.

What kind of !@#$% game was that? Kamen losted it in crunch time but the Kings imploded. This team has absolutely no killer instinct. The personalities on the team is bad despite bringing in a hard worker like Mikki. Ron is tough, but he's not a killer. He's like Rasheed Wallace; talented and skilled but not bright. Kings need to put their act together. I saw this all last year with Musselman and it's still the same. Theus is trying to remedy the situation and apparently talked a lot about patience in crunch time which showed itself when the Kings ran out the clock continuously, but still, it's more than patience; it's poise. Just look at Kobe: down by almost double digits but played hard, stepped up big time, and delivered with the 360 dunk. Kings seriously need to look at how the Spurs close out games. They NEVER panic, they're always mature and in control, and their execution is perfect. Ron can draw double teams, Kevin is a serious threat from the outside, Brad is very versatile, Salmons can get to the basket almost at will. I just don't see why these guys don't step up and FINISH. Looks like Garcia is the only guy out there who isn't afraid to "seize the day" He'll stand up to guys like Garnett and shoot without a conscience. Beno came from the Spurs and his mental focus is very apparent especially with his low turn overs. The Kings need to RESPECT the game of basketball, get out there and play. Stop complaining, stop trying to be superman, stop worrying about touches, stop trying to fill up stats. Just do it!

Well the sound guys at ARCO could help a little... maybe play "I fought the Law and the Law won" every time Brad starts his whine?

Absolutely!!!

Also Brad is not very subtle, no, he tends NOT to be subtle at all in his retaliations at the other end and his size and lunch pail type of game is not pretty so such attempted "pay backs" are a bit more obvious than what most other Bigs pull off. It is hard for a referee to ignore then he whines and pouts which is even more obvious so no sympathy either. It's the way he is and as long as the Kings are 26-33 (?) they will get not much (any?) sympathy from referees.

For all our talk about Artest being the emotional player on the team, I think it is Brad who most wears his heart on his sleeve and sometimes behaves like a child when he gets fouled.

And he does get fouled a lot - because other players know it works. And he does miss a lot of calls - because (like Vlade) he complains too much and the refs are prone to penalize whiners rather than reward them.

Like someone else already suggested, he would do well for himself and his team if he could learn to work within this system. Last year he did improve his body. Maybe this year he can improve his mind...

That's just Brad. You have to deal with it, he plays with a lot of emotion.

But it's not just playing with a lot of emotion. Iverson plays with a lot of emotion, Kobe plays with a lot of emotion, Miller doesn't translate that emotion into on the court play. AI, Kobe, etc. take that emotion and will bang under the boards harder, will hustle more, play better defense, etc. Brad will just throw a tantrum, whine to the ref instead of getting back, or commit some stupid foul for no reason.

I'd say that Brad is not just an emotional player .... he is more like a sensitive one. Too much ...

Dear Brad !! You're German-American ... you are supposed to be ice cold and circumspect !!!

I have been telling you guys brad miller stinks but everyone was praising him.

Anyways im sure some teams might be interested in a trade for brad hopefully indiana AHEM>.

Brad lets his emotions get the best of him at times. That does NOT mean he stinks.

Dear Brad Miller,
You have been one of the bright spots in this season. Seeing your return to your younger level of play has been fun to watch, especially since so few players are able to do that. I know that you have worked hard to return to a high level of play. While I would would like to see less of the "pouty face," I have totally enjoyed watching you on the court. Keep up the good work.

7 points with the 2 best players out. Way to step it up Miller.

Wow. Such an in-depth view. I'm especially impressed by the manner in which you took consideration of all the various underlying conditions that could/did affect Miller's overall effectiveness.
