The Sacramento Kings did their best to create the right situation for De'Aaron Fox in his rookie season. When it was clear he was the team's best option at the point guard spot, they traded Hill away and handed him the reins. Expectations are high coming into Fox's sophomore season.

What a spot-on analysis, thanks for linking. No points of disagreement here, as I've long argued that added strength, cutting out midrange jumpers and increasing FG% and shot frequency at the rim will be key to his success in year 2.

I'm less optimistic than James Ham about improvements to his passing ability, as Fox has always been more of a combo in terms of Assist % and A/TO, and this nuance takes a long time plus a combo of special systems + personnel to develop, if possible to improve at all. A speedier system and added strength may help with his assist volume but I also expect the A/TO to not rise >2/1, thus we'll always need passers on the floor with him to help move the ball.

Fox shot the ball much better in college. He will adjust to the NBA. I look for more assists and improved defense as the two big keys for the team going forward. He showed the ability to stop opposing PGs at the end of games last year. Fox absoutely has the speed to and quickness to become an elite defender.

I didn't watch him pre-Kings but I think he's gonna be fine. I believe he'll flourish even more without all the spotlight on him - there are lots of other young bucks (including Giles, Bagley and Beli) that fans and the media will be focusing on. I cannot begin to imagine the pressure he felt last year.
