Wow.

I argue with my wife too but to not understand why people would be upset that it escalated to anything physical is a little alarming.
People may be holding off on being upset while waiting for the details to come out. The Devil is always in the details.

The problem lies in not knowing what actually happened. I got into an argument with my wife a couple of weeks ago. If someone had called the police, they would have seen marks on my daughter's face (caused by an infection) that looked like someone had hit her. I imagine I would have been arrested anyway. I'm not saying DC did or didn't do anything, only that we don't know yet.

Yes...? I don't know what you're needing confirmation for. It was typed, that is what was said. Yes, really.
Well, let's see...the poster said "it's not like he murdered somebody." I interpret that as "even if he roughed her up a little bit it's not that big of a deal." Pretty crappy thing to say IMO.

I'm totally on board with the "let's wait until the facts come out" crowd. Innocent until proven guilty. But, in my opinion, that poster was downplaying how serious domestic violence can be.

Yep. I've seen it happen before in a domestic dispute. Even when the person said that the injury wasn't caused by them and they didn't want the person arrested the police did anyway because the state of California takes control at that point. Hopefully everything turns out OK for Darren and his family.

Didn't see this article from the Bee posted yet:

Not a ton new - we've got a character witness from Darren's church and his lawyer Portanova addressing things a little.

On the DV charge:

“It’s really a misunderstanding, and we’re working to straighten it out,” Portanova said. “This is genuinely one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, and we will be working closely with the family.”
On the suspended license:

Portanova, the lawyer, said it did not involve alcohol or DUI. Instead, Portanova said, the Department of Motor Vehicles had mailed an old traffic ticket to an address where Collison no longer lives, which made it difficult for him to respond. “It’s a technical thing we’re going to repair very quickly,” Portanova said.
I'm actually inclined to believe the bit about the license. As far as the DV goes, I think that's the kind of thing you'd expect the lawyer to say no matter what. I'm not sure that moves the needle one way or the other.

Violence is never acceptable in a domestic situation. Especially deplorable is violence against Women, Children and the Elderly. Not knowing what happened in this case leading up to and during this case I think it best to let the authorities work through the process and decide the outcome.

As far as how it affects Kings Basketball Collison is going to miss part of the season most likely. I would not be surprised if a change of scenery is his fate. Now the Kings head into the off season without any PG's under contract who can be counted on to be available in training camp and on opening day.

It would not surprise me to see different lead guards playing for the Kings when the season begins.
Not that your wrong, but me thinks your jumping to a lot of conclusions. Charges could be dropped after further examination. She might have another explanation for what ever injuries were found. At this point, we don't know. All we can do is hope for the best, for both them, and the Kings organization.

You are the one assuming bud and your interpretation screams insecurity. Obviously demostic violence is serious. Nobody ever "downplays"domestic violence. My point is all it takes is one little push and a man will be charged with some bs like that. 100 dollars says charges are dropped and his wife claims she was just scared because they got into a heated argument and since Darren Collison is a rather large man, it's easy for him to instantly becoming intimidating. Maybe a push, maybe a scratch while she pushed him. Who tf knows. But people always assume men are some neanderthalic monsters incapable of controlling their superior muscles.
