dallas vs houston

I hope Houston wins....I'm actually looking forward to JVG's "no breathing room" defense to appear...JVG's teams are always defensive minded and really good defensive teams but come PO time you can double that and that add lil somethin somethin to it...

they did lose to the Lakers last year but did ya see any of those games WHOA! It was painful to watch cuz it was so slowed down and low scoring in like all the games...this year he has the superstar duo of Yao and TMac and they are surrounded nicely with role players and veterans and this team has boughten(sp? is that even a word?) Into his defensive schemes...last years team wasn't AS interested..

again I hope Houston wins....cuz I hate the Mavs and I would love to see them get knocked out in the first round

actually houston's defense was much better last year. they just have better role players this year and a better star in mcgrady.

don't discount the Mavs new D as well. Just think how good our D will be next year when Avery is coach for the entire season!

I'm putting Houstons D above Dallas's D...Dallas is better defensively this year than last year but they aren't at the same level as Houston

Actually, Houston will have only one, but very big trouble: they are weak at 4th spot. Weatherspoon and Padgett just suck in latest games. Novizki will look like MVP.

^that is their downside BUT they have been playing without the real starting PF for weeks now its not like it just happened yesterday and they now have to adjust just days before the POs..also its not like Howard but be a huge improvement...and Dirk is gonna look like an all star no matter...he has been pretty darn great in past PO series but....

I also suspect that Ryan Bowen will start and him and Padgett will share the task...but if they want to be successfull its gonna take a total team effort...traps double teams those types of things...I'm sure JVG has got it all figured out...

Earlier in the season when Houston wasn't rolling Mavs got two wins. The other two games Houston has won. In the first Juvan outplayed Dirk, in the second Dirk didn't played and Dallas was torn.
BUT anyway if I'm not mistaken all four games were with Nelly as headcoach. Now it's another Dallas. So I think it's pretty interesting matchup. Not as interesting to me as Kings vs Sonics though. :D

I think with the way Dallas is playing (currently whipping Seattle), the Kings have to be pretty happy with the 6 seed in the first round...

He'll get some time for sure...Houston fans believe that it came down to late in the game that McGrady would definetly be the one defending him...

I mean, who else should get the job? McGrady is 6'9", long, quick, strong and athletic. It won't be easy, but I believe that he's more qualified and more capable than Ryan Bowen or Scott Padgett. I'd rather put the game in his hands.

I can't believe I'm about to write this, but McGrady hasn't really shown a willingness to take defense that seriously for such a long stretch. Now, if he had Kobe's mindset (I know, I know), I could see him asking for the job in the papers right now.

I agree with you.

However, who else is going to do it? I think that, if given the task of guarding Nowitzki, Tracy McGrady would take it seriously. He's still a prideful individual, and this is the playoffs, for crying out loud.

Whoa now, in nearly all 4 games (except the first one) the Mavericks were missing 1, if not 2 starters in each of those games and we STILL split the season series with them. We also have a new head coach who hasn't coached against the Rockets and likewise. I don't know if you can really figure out who may win the series just by looking at the regular season games.

Regardless it's going to be a great match up.

i dont know.... im going with houston.... i just dont see anyone on the mavs stopping mcgrady from scoring 40 a game.... he wants to advance in the playoffs more than anyone this year... if they can suck the mavs into a shootout.... and leave padgett open late in the game they could beat them... no one ever guards him.....

the only problem for the Rockets is who is going to stop Dirk from scoring 40 a game? Those two will cancel each other out, and that's a best case scenario for Houston since Dirk scores the ball much more efficiently than TMac.

Mavs are playing as well as anyone in the league right now. I don't know who they've played in their last ten (if they played the Spurs, it was without Duncan), but they've only lost once (I think that was by 20 to the Cavs, though), they have a legitimate center, and Dirk's numbers in the playoffs are usually pretty impressive. Houston should've tanked a game or two so they could get Seattle and then the Spurs.

dirk averaged like 30 against us last year and they lost in 5, thanx to peja the mavs stopper.... stopped 3 mavs in a single series...

That'll be a great 1st round playoff
I think Mav is a little better than Rockets because of their deeper bench

the final result will be determined by the points beyond the arc for both teams if there is no injury (I'm afraid of T-mac and Dirk)

and that was rather nice to see considering he hasn't been brillant offesensively in the playoffs its nice to see that he REALLY steps up his defense..

The thing with Dirk and the Mavs is that Dirk can have a 30-40 game night and they can still lose...for them is they are gonna need help from somebody else...and this year is the first year that they actually have plenty BUT at the same time they have plenty of candidates for "chokers"

I hate the Mavs I will never anything nice about them..and if I do its usually backed up with something rude/sarcastic/just plain mean

All depends on Yao.

Mcgrady + Dirk = 0.

If Yao comes in with his 20-10 game, Houston wins. Otherwise, Dallas. I give Dallas the nod for better roleplayers.

I don't think Yao will be very effective against Dampier. But McGrady can take the game over at any stage. Dirk will give what he has been giving all season long. So it does depend on how well TMac does and how well the Huston defence can handle themselves.

This is a series I see going to 7 for sure. Should be a fun and exciting one!! IMO, whoever that plays better defense will win the series.

I like the West playoff this season...so many new series!
