Dallas/Phoenix game 6

I hate the Dallas Mavericks. I abhor Mark Cuban with an intensity beyond comprehension.

Having said that, the team has earned my respect. I will NOT, however, root for them in the finals.

Ugh, please don't tell me Phoenix is letting go.

Dallas has become my most-hated team.

Go Heat. (If Dallas makes it to the finals)

Well ****, if not even a Dick Bavetta officiated game 6 in Phoenix can prevent the Mavs from advancing, then what honestly can stop them? I hate to say it but they deserve the title.

I hate the mavs(they dont deserve to have their 'm' capital) and i hate cuban and anyone else associated with them. I also hate dirk A LOT (to the point where it gets scary). I dont like avery johnson and his funny voice either.

A little Finals trivia:

- This will be the third consecutive year (and the fourth time in the last five years) that the regular season MVP will not be competing in the NBA Finals.

- The Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks are both competing in the NBA Finals for the first time in their franchise history. The last time both Finals teams were making their first Finals appearance was 1971 (Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Baltimore Bullets (Washington Wizards) 4-0).

completely agree. there's NOTHING about that team that there's to like. go heat all the way. eh, avery johnson.. he's a little weird. heck, who isn't on that lame team? what can you do? you have to admit they're.. .. good.

And here's another one: With Dallas and Miami advancing to the Finals, there are now only eight teams who have never been to the Finals in their franchise history:

Charlotte Bobcats
Cleveland Cavaliers
Denver Nuggets
Los Angeles Clippers
Memphis Grizzlies
Minnesota Timberwolves
New Orleans Hornets
Toronto Raptors

The Cleveland Cavaliers (1970) are the oldest team to have never been to the NBA Finals.

I disagree; in fact, if it weren't for Mark Cuban, I would totally be rooting for the Mavericks. I think that Johnson's a great coach, and I like every player on their team... I just can't stand the guy signing the checks.

Wow, Dallas could win the championship, hate them or not, that is a GOOD basketball team.

I respect the D in Dallas!

Completely agreed. I too like all their players but Cuban is too much to overcome. I can actually really root for Avery and Dirk. I guess I have until Thursday to decide who I hate more: Shaq or Cuban.

yeah, true, Cuban is probably the worst thing that forces my hatred towards the Mavs. I didn't say Avery Johnson wasn't a great coach, he can be weird, but he certainly lead them a longgg long way.

they're not my favorite team, but what can you say? they're good.

I won't root for the Mavs, but Dirk has won me over some. I can't believe there used to be a debate about who was better between him and our previous SF. The numbers have always been there, but he's become more than just that. His progression in those areas has been amazing.

Impressive run from Dallas from the mid-third on to slow down the Suns, get back into the game and take the lead for good.

I think it would of been a different series had Raja Bell not hurt his calf in Game 1, missed two games, and only sparked the Suns once in his surprise return. Series was damn fun though.

Really looking foward to these finals...go Heat!

I had to edit one of those posts up there; it turns out that I was wrong about that 1971 series (that wasn't Baltimore's first Finals appearance). It has been replaced by the correct answer.

EDIT - Meh. It turns out I was right the first time: a little research has revealed that the Baltimore Bullets team that won in 1948 folded in 1955, and was *not* the same franchise as the team that would become the Washington Wizards. *THAT* franchise wasn't born until 1961, and was originally called the Chicago Packers.

I cannot cheer for the Mavs. My dislike (hate is so stong, and I am ashamed to use it, but it is probably a better fit) for Cuban and Dirk is stronger even than my disdain for the Big Living Room Suite. Besides, I love Dwayne Wade (even from his college days).

I gotta root for the Heat!!!

But I will be. ;) I think the western conf. will win this one again.

lol...same here...It's not the mavs I can't stand..its just Cuban

I'll be rooting for the mavs. I just want to see shaq lose and I guess none of the mavs I really hated originally (van exel and finley) are there anymore.

so it's a lesser of two evils thing.

If cuban wins a championship though, my finger will meet the mute button.

That goes for shaq too though I guess.

I guess I'll just put on the chili peppers or something.

I'll be pulling for the Mavs. Cuban and Dirk, unlike Shaq, never insulted the city of Sacramento or its people. At least, not that I can recall. Dirk has matured a lot as a player since those old playoff battles. In fact, he's a treat to watch now. And I enjoy the fact that Cuban is the only guy in the league with the stones to needle Stern. We all see the shady stuff involved in the league, and Cuban calls Stern out. I appreciate that. If Stern didn't have the media in his pocket he'd be fielding alot tougher questions. In Italy, the government investigates when there are officiating discrepancies, as they have been with Juventus and Serie A. Stern should be careful about how many Game 6s he assigns Bavetta to.

If there is a Game 6 (or even a Game 5 with someone's back against the wall) I predict Bavetta is working the game. Anyone want to bet? :p
