Yea, I was more talking to the poster who said that this deal would help convince Cousins we are serious. I just feel that if this deal would sway us one way or another, it would be towards Monroe. But your right, a trade you make for a guy under contract for 1 year shouldnt have an effect on who you draft long term.
I will say, the thought of Landry and Dalembert on the court together could be effective. When Landry struggled last season, it was because we didnt have a big who could take the pressure off him on D. Now we have that.
A part of me is wondering if were going to try and pull a Celtics here. I would HATE it, but say we make the Prince deal, Does a team of Dalembert, Landry, Prince, Garcia, Evans make the playoffs? Probly not. Really good defensive team though. Makes you wonder what our plans are.
I'll admit Im a little upset about seeing Hawes go. I still think he can play. He was still so young.
I followed Hawes closely in his one year at Stanford. I was on his bandwagon when we drafted him, so there's a part of me that wanted to see the final outcome here. At the same time, right now he still has that upside fantasy value around the league because of his youth and limited service in the league. So your taking a gamble. You wait one more year and perhaps he has less value and your still eating Nocioni's contract. Or in one more year the light goes on in his head and he has more value. Tough call and I think you just have to go with your gut on this one. As Bill Walsh said, Its better to trade a player one year too early than one year too late..
