Dalembert

I don't know about ML type player...I'm happy and like I said on the other dalembert thread this looks like Johnson is our guy.

#1 Minny is bringing cousins in
#2 Talk out of the front office seems to be to take bpa (JJohnson)
#3 They want shooter to put next to tyreke
#4 we have our big now

I wonder what this means about drafting cousins...

I'm happy with this trade...

We can still take Cousins if he is available. But it makes more sense for use to take Wesley Johnson or Monroe now if DC is gone and I would be happy with either.

BUT... this also means the Sixers might be taking Cousins/Favors themselves. Either with the #2 or by trading down. I can't picture the Sixers thinking Hawes will be their big man of the future.

Yea, this seems like a deal that would pave the way for Monroe, not Cousins.

Im not saying it means we arent drafting Cousins, but it would be hard to pair Monroe and Hawes on the same team. Monroe and Dalembert would be a much better pairing.

I think your reading too much into it. As stated, Dalembert's contract only has this next season left on it, so there's no guarantee we'll resign him. By trading both Hawes and Nocioni we still have cap space this offseason. As far as pairing's go, their all centers and for the most part won't be on the floor at the same time, so I doubt it makes much difference.

After listening to Jerry Reynolds on Grants show the other day I'm convinced more than ever that the Kings will draft Cousins if he's there. Now if he's not there then who knows?

Only thing I don't like is that Spencer is only 22 years old and has a cheap rookie contract. But he will be restricted next year, so now is the time for him to be expendable. Also makes me facepalm from the CHI-KINGS trade to get Noc in the first place.

I love Sammy , the one thing is that THIS GUY NEVER GETS INJURED!!!! 82 games the past 4 years for a big man is amazing.

Extremely smart deal. Dalembert was one of the more underrated "toxic contract" players in the league--the guy's impact is still very very good, and in particular he fits this team like a glove with his rebounding and shotblocking, and he has the mobility and athleticism to play with Evans in both halfcourt and transition. And of course, he's an expiring now, so we're in a very optimal position.

Nocioni I'll spare the details--we pretty much wanted him gone with his toxic contract, and he was only putting 10% effort out on the court and having a severely negative impact. Hawes is someone who simply wasn't that good--he's probably a role player, at best, unless he makes some severe adjustments in terms of toughness. His impact was that of a role player, and while he had explosions every now and then more often he was just hoisting jumpers in the perimeter and being a sieve on defense. Totally expendable player, despite his young age.

sammy is a expiring, i do not forsee him beyond this upcoming season. he'll probably want a raise from his 12+ mill contract after his contract is up.

it's going to be interesting to see if we snag a pick out of this trade since we are giving them a young big.

Yea, I was more talking to the poster who said that this deal would help convince Cousins we are serious. I just feel that if this deal would sway us one way or another, it would be towards Monroe. But your right, a trade you make for a guy under contract for 1 year shouldnt have an effect on who you draft long term.

I will say, the thought of Landry and Dalembert on the court together could be effective. When Landry struggled last season, it was because we didnt have a big who could take the pressure off him on D. Now we have that.

A part of me is wondering if were going to try and pull a Celtics here. I would HATE it, but say we make the Prince deal, Does a team of Dalembert, Landry, Prince, Garcia, Evans make the playoffs? Probly not. Really good defensive team though. Makes you wonder what our plans are.

I'll admit Im a little upset about seeing Hawes go. I still think he can play. He was still so young.

The only way I see the Princess deal now is for Garcia.

Hawes can play, but I just can't trust a player with a life long history of knee injuries to be our center of the future.

Me likey! We get rid of Mr. Drunk and Mr. Soggy Waffles, fill a desperate need, and we pave the way to select BPA in the draft.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that Dalembert will be getting lots of minutes in Sac.

From SI:
Philadelphia has been attempting to move Dalembert for more than a year. League sources say Dalembert's constant griping over playing time and offensive opportunities grated on teammates and coaches and that he had become a significant distraction in the locker room.

I was looking for the proper thread to bring this up and this one looks as good as any. I don't really know how to say this and I'm very sick and medicated right now so here's to hoping this comes out right.

We Kings fans are a dedicated, fervent bunch but we can be a little tough. We drafted Hawes knowing that he was going to be a project and we as fans just didn't have the patience. We expect a lot from our players I guess. IMO Samuel Dalembert is similarly limited only offensively which may try our patience some. This is what I signed on for though- I was a vociferous supporter of revising our frontline with an eye toward defense, and now that we have it I will gladly accept whatever missed offensive opportunity that might occur. This is that greener grass on the other side of the septic tank to me and I'm gonna love it. :D

Anyway take it easy on the dude.
