Cutino ... Patience ... Acceptance

I hope we keep Mobley but how will we resign Mobley and Peja and still keep those guys we just got on top of trying to keep Songalia if he performs. Sign and Trade could be the only options we have.

both Peja and Darius fall under the Larry Bird rule so the kings can sign them for an amount over the salary cap. I do not think that Cat does though.

Cat's single best trait for us is his clutch play. Can never have enough clutch players.

But Bibby and Cat and Peja and Brad out there all together is just badly unbalanced. Too many shooters, and mostly of the softie perimeter variety. No idea how we can ever be a good defensive or rebounding team with all four of those guys getting 35+ minutes. So I think if you want to realistically get the defense/rebounding back to where it was during our prime contention years in '02 and '03 at least one of those guys has to go in favor of somebody more balanced. Add to that, Napear's silly company statements aside, that we still badly need a true post player in the starting lineup to open things up for said shooters and give us half court presence, and keeping all of those guys just does not seem likely unless Mobley actually were to take over the Bobby role off the bench.

Actually I think Peja and Cat both do, but Darius does not. Could be wrong, but I seem to recall that we don't have matching rights on either Darius or Mo this summer?

yeah but will the maloof want to sign them for big money. i know we can sign them, will we sign them, that's the key.

Peja will command 10-12
Darius will command 6-7
Cat Will Command 8-9

On Top of Brad Making 8
Bibby Making 11
Corliss at 6
Kenny at 6
Brian at 5

That's already 36

We add those 3 before and that's around 62 before we get through 7 guys and we need 12 on the roster. Right now were at 57 and "thats" too high.

The one good thing about Darius is that he signed with the Kings because he wanted to be a King. He had a lot of offers to play elsewhere for more.

I think that Darius can be the future of the kings at PF

Just Wondering .....

We are in Chapter 2 of our "Quest From the West" .... wouldn't you say so ???

One window has closed and another has opened (mid-season, mind ya). If not this year (we can't rule it out, anything can happen), next year.

I would like to believe these guys are in it for THE LONG HAUL and see an opportunity here that only comes around a couple times in an NBA Player's career (if they're lucky).

Some good things are still happenin' here in Sac-Town ...

Money ain't everythang !!!

Darius is nowhere near 6-7. He's at most an exception player, and I have doubts anyone will offer him the full exception either (although the Brian Scalabrine example last year means anything is possible).

If Cat is going to cost 9, yet more reason to look elsewhere. If he costs 7, then that's about what Doug was costing and its at least in the ballpark.

Peja will surely be looking for a max deal. I think the writing is on the wall that he's going to get it. I also think that whether he actually deserves it or not on a team with championship aspirations depends on whether he can find a way to show up in the playoffs. Mentioned before, don't see how you can win a title with a max player on your roster who falls apart come May.

well....that makes this run at the playoffs just that more important for peja then, now dont it? regardless of if he wants to remain with the kings or not, if he's looking for a max deal anywhere then he's gonna have to really step it up come playoff time this season. this is his defining moment as a basketball player. there are no more obstacles in his way. kings management has done everything short of saying outright that he is the focal point of this team. damn, i sure i hope he doesnt play the dissapearing act again and i hope he stays healthy.

I thought under the current CBA second year players have "limited bird rights." That being that they can be signed up to the amount of the mid-level exception. I believe that was the problem that Golden State got into with Arenas.

But then again, I could be wrong.

I'm really not sure of Darius's status, because as you recall he was actualy some sort of FA this past season before we resigned him to a 1yr deal. Now I don't know.

I don't know either. Logically, one year plus one year should satisfy the condition of two years but when has logic ever mattered.
