Current Bonzi Status According to ESPN Insider + Kings Interested in Songaila?

Bonzi waiting...anything new?

Him waiting I think is a bad sign. He said he wanted to come back, but the offer probably wasn't enough. I have a feeling that the counter offer will stand and Kings won't budge. Does he have a website where we can voice/email our support for him? The guy was tremendous for us last season- both in the PO's and prior to Artest.

i don't necessarily think waiting is a bad sign. he's the last remaining big name free agent on the market, so there's going to be a lotta offers floated his way. the kings just have to make the best one. :)

i have a feelin that Petrie is working on a S&T. maybe thats why we havent hear anything news yet.
That's what I think may be going on. The Kings shouldn't make him the best offer, if its a ridiculous price and Bonzi wants a long-term deal.

Its torture waiting, tho, while others are making moves. :(

I don't see any reason to asume that. Bonzi got an offer from the Kings that most likely topped any other cash offer. Bonzi's Leach made a counter offer so Petrie is probably hammering out a number both sides can agree to. I suspect Bonzi has NOT gotten a better offer so they are playing with a weak hand and hoping to get a better offer elsewhere, mean while Petrie holds the Aces and is taking his time to keep cap space clear.

In short both sides thinktime is on their side at this point.

You know who's got to be sweating even more than we are? Cleveland fans -- there is no negotiation over LeBron's contract, everybody knows the number, and yet he aparently has yet to say yes. If this was cavsfans.com I think we'd all really be squirming about now. Only the entire future of the franchise and all that.

Kind of puts it all into perspective. :D

At least Lebron wouldn't have to worry about having to deal with the only guy in the league that can shut him down. He and Artest would share the same backcourt/front line.

However, as much as I'd like to see the deal get done...I don't see it happening! :D

Anything new? Well, yeah... Marquis Daniels traded to the Pacers, and supposedly are chasing Harrington.

So now they have a swingman crop of: Daniels/Granger/Williams/White/S-Jack

I'd think that Daniels/Granger would be the starting wing combo, and Jackson could be dealt, or is better off the bench anyways.

Last year, #23 said he wouldn't mind playing for the Maloofs.
hm...lebron holding out on cleveland's max offer, geoff petrie sitting on his hands, lebron's supposed interest in playing for the maloofs....sign and trade, maybe?

hahahahhahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! just wanted to see how long i could indulge in the thought of lebron james in a kings uniform before i started busting up laughing at the utter absurdity of it. well...however long it took you to scroll down to this little paragraph, that was as long as i lasted...

:D

Okay, I've tried really hard to imagine what it would be like to be a Cavalier fan if that happened... I'd be grabbing torches and marching on the castle.

FREE-AGENT UPDATE:A source said Sacramento has offered Kings free-agent guard Bonzi Wells a five-year contract worth about $36 million, but Wells, who made $8 million last season, wants more. The Nuggets are interested in Wells but can't offer more than a five-year, $30 million deal.
Good catch.

Ok, so maybe there's the holdup. Bump it to $40 Geoff -- you will get back a happier player (no Seattle foolishness) and also put yourself well out of reach of all the MLEs.

Gotta admire the offer though. Not insulting yet frugal, $6 million more than anyone else can offer. Bonzi would be a bargain at that price. And yeah, bump it up to $40 if you have to, but 5 years/$36 million is a solid offer.

Mods, feel free to merge or lock, but as it's possibly new info, I figured I'd start a thread for it.
