Cuban mouthing off again...

Duct tape is a wonderful thing but having a voice box removed would be even better. the Mavs are probably sick of him by now-everyone else is.
I can't wait to see his reaction when they lose, but then of course it is fixed already:rolleyes:

you know, i think people need to have some sympathy in this regard. if your vendetta with cuban is too much for that, at least consider the mavs as a team. i mean, ****, the kings were in the same position only a few years ago. we had the home court advantage and the lakers reeling, only to have referee and free throw shooting ills thwart our championship hopes. last time i checked, the mavs lost game 5 because of poor clutch free throw shooting and several suspect whistles. we were all bitching when it happened to the kings in '02, as was rick adelman, as were the maloofs. hell, we even had ralph nader saying the kings was robbed. i'm one to sympathize with the mavs plight. though i, of course, am no cuban-hater, so i guess i can see past his apparently grotesque existence.

the mavs weren't robbed. you really can't compare game 5 to game 6 02 WCF. 6 was a travesty. Game 5 (IMHO) was a very winnable game for the Mavs, and Wade was fouled on the last drive. |1: Tripped by Howard |2: Hacked by Harris |3:Pushed by Nowitski. One foul was called. Give Wade his props for hitting the hardest free throws of his life. The Mavs should have won in regulation when Howard bricked two FT's. If he makes those, nobody is complaining about bad refs.

I don't have a vendetta against Cuban, I actually like the guy unlike most here, but his whining is ridiculous. The refs did not steal this game from them. I don't think Ralph Nader is going to write any letters either.

I don't like Cuban because he stole my idea. To make money on an idea that never came to light.

He punked Yahoo with broadcast.com :)

hey, i never called it a cut-and-dry repeat of the 02 western conference finals. i just said it was a similar situation in which the referees got to the mavs and they broke down under the pressure. it doesn't have to be the same kind of travesty in order to sympathize with their position. the refs got the kings in game 6, and then the kings let the refs get to them in game 7, where they buckled under the pressure when they finally did get to the line. the kings choked game 7 away then, and the mavs choked game 5 away 2 days ago. i'm not saying they were robbed. just saying there was questionable officiating throughout, with the mavs getting the short end of the stick much of the time. it happens to most teams in the nba at some time or another, but it really sucks when it happens as your back is up against the wall in the playoffs--nba finals, no less.

Cuban isn't even (publically) complaining about anything besides the final play.

If he has his voice box removed, he'd have to start talking through one of those... um... thingies (eh, I get stupid in the heat :o ). Then, instead of the normal, obnoxious Mark Cuban that we already have to deal with, we'd hear the delusional ranting of Robo-Cuban.

No thanks.

Suddenly, the image of "Robo-Cuban" in a heated exchange with Stephen Hawking popped into my head.

The Kings lost the 2002 WCF because they choked, plain and simple. The Mavericks are in danger of losing the 2006 NBA Finals because they've choked, plain and simple.

Sorry, but I'm not going to cut them any more slack than I cut the Kings back in 2002.

Whining is for babies. These are millionaire professional athletes. They need to STFU, suck it up and play. And their owner needs a keeper.

cuban just called bill simmoins his new hero.

www.blogmaverick.com

btw, great column by simmons

I assume that was Simmons little conspiracy piece?

Yeah, great column wiping out the last of his dwindling respectability. What a nightmare, to try to be a real columnist and get lauded by Mark Cuban. Talk about screwed.

simmons will be fine, he has a lot of fans. people still read him

Anybody notice Cuban standing on the court clapping after the buzzer? That was pretty classy. I'm sure he'll make several petitions to the NBA after this one, as there were some questionable calls, but, at least for a moment, he had my respect.

Yes, I noticed that.

He also seemed to be in the huddles during the final time outs. And on the court playing cheerleader to pump up the noise. At least he gets his money's worth.

although some people say that cuban is obnoxious, annoying, and too involved (on the floor), i think he is a great owner. he truly cares about the mavs, mavs fans, and the nba. if every team had an owner like cuban, what a wonderful league it would be

I'll pass on the league of obnoxious infants with their toys. There is something to be said for actually growing up once you get hair on your naughty places.

I actually agree. And I think he does a lot of other neat non-basketball stuff with movies and HDTV even going all the way back to broadband.com. He is obnoxious, but the league is better to have more Cubans than more Donald Sterlings.

One extreme is just as bad as the other. The league would be best served, IMHO, without either.

League would do quite nicely with less of both actually. Oddly the entire golden era of the NBA took place with Mark Cuban as nothign more than a particularly obnoxious fanboy in the stands. He's hardly necessary.

cuban is a good guy. i started reading his blog during these playoffs, and it seems like he really cares about his fans. even though he whines a lot, some of his complaints are warranted. and i think he offers many good ideas for changing the nba for the better.

I think its too bad when an owner's antics gets as much, or more, media attention than the team or its players. Cuban is the annoying kid who just has to be in the spotlight and will do whatever it takes to get attention.

He may have good ideas, but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired. I think he often hurts his causes more than helps them. Its hard to sway people when you're constantly insulting them, as if no one is as smart as you.

The only reason he's not banned from being in any sports arena in the United States is that he is absurdly rich. That's enough to make me dislike him immensely. It's one thing to indulge and buy yourself a sports team and be dedicated to it. It's another to try to (and frequently succeed) upstage your team. The Maloofs are getting dangerously close to that. There are lots of owners of championship-caliber teams who stay out of they way and let a good organization run itself. You can celibrate and be the center of attention in your own world. Don't ruin the game by making yourself part of it. Cuban is a serious headcase- I am positive he would play in a game given the chance. He already works out with them, goes in the huddle with them, runs on the court to contest calls...I'd say he was approximately 2 wins away from suiting himself up for some exhibiton games (which he's probably done anyways, or will)

There's a fine line between supporting your team and being an ***. Cuban is well past that line.

but simmons is funny. (otherwise, good point)

the stuff about shaq and his freethrows was funny, the whole article though had me thinkng about mel gibson in that conspiracy theory movie (although mel turned out to be right, o mayb thats not such a good example). still you got ask yourself, does Simmons cove the walls of his office with tinfoil?
