One thing I'm sure of, if a person doesn't set goals for themselves, it won't happen. Good for DeMarcus. I like it. He may or may not be the ROY at season's end, but I want him to go for it!![]()
Indeed!!I'm thinking he'll get around 16pts/10reb/3-4asts/1-2 blocks, but that's a low bar estimate...if he achieves anything higher I definitely think he's got the best shot at ROY.
How many minutes do you think he'll play?

Last year, only one center got more than 3 assists. The year before? 2. And you think that a rookie center is going to not only get this, but that it is a "low bar" estimate? What would a regular estimate be then? Those glasses you're wearing, exactly how much tint is in them?
You see him in summer league? I still cannot really think of a comparison to what he was doing as a passer. Not even the great guys like Walton and Vlade were that quick and fluid with their passes. They set people up. But Cousins really looked almost like a guard just making it up along the way.
Its unlikely as a rookie, but not impossible. If he gets fired up as a major player and that was anything but a fluke, I don't think there's any center int he NBA who is going to be close to him as a passer.

Can it happen? Yes, NBA records are made all the time. To post them in such a light that what would be a "low bar" is dismissive of both how hard it is at any rookie to average 4 assists, but doesn't even take into account that centers are far more disadvantaged at that particular stat category.
Is it doable? Sure, anything can happen. A beast of a man can get 100 points in a game. A beast of a man can average 3 assists in his rookie season. Is it likely? No. Is it probable? No. Is it something that would be a "low bar?" No.
People on here throw out numbers without any regard to how hard it is to attain what you guys want. "20/10," 2 blocks, and so on and so forth. 3 assists from a rookie center would not only be amazing, but something that most centers never do.
Cheer and hope and be optimists all you want, but this numbers proliferation game that goes on in here just demeans their performance and creates an image of basketball that doesn't exist in the real world.
