I don't know if it has been posted or not but DeMarcus Cousins has been fined and benched for giving the "choke" sign last night
Well that's stupid. A fine I can see, but benching, really? Seems a bit extreme to me. They're just trying to make him the scapegoat for the loss.
I'm for it. I'm guessing it just means he will come off the bench for one game. But it was an emotional and immature moment and I'm glad Westphal is setting an example now. Hopefully Cousins learns, you just don't do that.
He'll be thinking i can't do anything right **** this team.
I'm sure there will be plenty of people siding with the coach on this one but to bench our best player (collectively over recent games) is just complete and utter madness IMO and reckless
This is beyond stupid. The coach has lost his mind.
Players taunt each other all the time. He was doing it to try and get in the Warriors heads at the free thrown line. And it kind of worked as they DID miss a few free throws down the stretch.
Why do we continue to put so much blame on him. Maybe it's the damn coaches fault.
Petrie should fine and bench Westphal for putting Pooh-Beno-Garcia-Landry out there together for critical fourth quarter minutes. This organization puts way to much blame on the players. Look in the ****ing mirror. Your a terrible Coach. Your garbage offense is non existent. How bout a suspension for that??
This coaching staff is an absolute joke.
if Boogie was benched last night we might have won the game. Cousins is my favorite player on the Kings but he should have been pulled last night.
Any boundaries that disallow players giving a choke sign are just plain stupid. This isn't grade school where everyone has to "play nice". For crying out loud, players have to have some leeway in which to express themselves.boundaries that are drawn and they must be enforced.
Lame, who we trying to impress, fans? I can understand some warning and a kick in the ***..

OTOH, it probably did provide a little more motivation to our new Overlords.
Maybe not, but it does highlight one of the reasons why today's league is so watered down and wussified compared to 15 years ago.1. It's not particularly practical to judge what you could get away with fifteen years ago with what you can get away with today.
It's not stupid. You're dealing here with a juvenile. Not an adult. You don't treat it like it's a one-off when it's a series of incidents. At some point, there must be some boundaries that are drawn and they must be enforced. The rationalization that it's the coache's fault is beyond ridiculous.
Exactly. And that's my main problem with it. It's a poorly conceived, reactionary move and a pee poor attempt to scapegoat Cousins. If we had won last night, Cousins doesnt get benched or fined. No way in hell.

2. My memory may be faulty, but didn't the Pacers win that game?
Not sure if you're for or against what happened...
1) But 15yrs ago isn't that long in a league that's been around over 60yrs. All of the sudden people today are more sensitive?
