cousins don't know nothin bout what up

Oh poppycock! First of all, where is it written that Cousins has to be a leader? Who made that rule, you? Why does everyone think it's a prerequisite to be a leader if you happen to be a great basketball player, and your somehow a failure if your not. Cousins is what he is, and that happens, arguably at the moment, to be the best center in the NBA. He's not perfect! He's not Shaq or Wilt. He's Cousins! Now apparently that's not good enough for you. Fine! Anyone can set the bar wherever they want and pass judgement. As I said before, if we were talking about JT the discussion wouldn't last long. The only reason were having this discussion is because Cousins is a very very good player.

Rarely does a players achievements match everyone's expectations. If I told everyone what Cousins would achieve when he was drafted, I doubt anyone would have turned him down.. He would have been the first pick in the draft. So I'm sorry he doesn't meet your standards, but frankly, he doesn't have to. Would I like him to be better than he is? Of course I would, but I'm also a realist. I've been watching this game for too long and know that if you put any player under the microscope, you'll find flaws. I watched Wilt go through similar experiences where he put up great numbers, but couldn't win. Then one day he had the right players around him and the right coach, and wa la, he won. One player by himself has a hard time winning. Lebron is probably the only player I can think of that you could put on a bad team and he would somehow get them into the playoffs.

By the way, you have the habit of talking out of both sides of your mouth, you should have been a politician. I won't waste my time explaining it to you.

Your argument is so feeble and paper thin it is not even worthy of a response. Correction, it is worthy of a modicum of a response, and you just got the extent of it.

Though it is interesting you bring up JT in your rant who I declared for years was a zero as a player to the defense of 90% of Kings fans who wanted to defend incompetency Now that scrub is out of the league unless he gets a camp invite on make-good minimum deal. Boogie is in a different category but that doesn't mean he doesn't have warts too, among them of which is an OBLIGATION as the self-appointed franchise guy to be a leader if not in words, then in actions. In this regard, he has FAILED miserably, and Rudy looking for the nearest exit is further evidence of the alienation he engenders. And if you don't know about the INTANGIBLE difference that Lillard made on the Blazers, you are not paying close enough attention with a lot of the firsthand accounts of players, coaches and media members around that team that speak to the profound effect he has on those around him.

But I digress. You have your expectations for players and I have mine. One of them is for a player to play hard consistently. Boogie did NOT play hard last year. He played hard in spurts then took plays off while he bitched at the refs, trailed plays, and disrespected opponents. And I called him out on it and the time, repeatedly, whether it was a matter of conditioning or injury is irrelevant. Since then, Boogie HAS LOST 18 POUNDS AND ADMITTED TO HAVE CHRONIC TENDONITIS IN BOTH FEET ALL SEASON. Let that sink in then ask if those who criticized his effort and play, especially defensively had merit OR whether those who excused away his shortcomings and wild variance in play to system and coach MAY have missed something?

Silly.

Every single player in the NBA takes plays off. The heavier the load they carry, the more often it happens. That's of course your myopia. Sometimes you can even be the MVP and end up taking off Game 7 in the NBA Finals.

An when a player who puts up 27pts 11rebs a night and annually has one of the largest defensive impacts in the league is accused of taking plays off, the demand in effect becomes for him to be the greatest center of all time, Average 30-15 and play Bogut/Gobert defense. And actually I'm glad you have finally come around and made that argument for me. Typically I float out the possibility of Top 10 all time C, but its brave of you to take a stand for GOAT.

Cousins has been unhappy for a while, Rudy wants to leave and Rondo left. It just seems that until Vlade has his few years to stabilize the integrity, star players will have the intuition that it is time to leave. I sure hope he (Vlade) knocks it out the park soon because I would be devastated if Cousins walks.

First of all, I too have criticized Cousins for his complaining to ref's while the ball is still in play, and being late down the floor. I said he's not perfect, and he needs to improve in some areas. But every word out of my mouth isn't critical of him. Your like a one note somba. Your also come across as condescending. So rather than listen to your constant BS, I'm putting you on my ignore list. By the way, I don't rant, you do.

He took too many plays off last season. It was obvious. And that was reflection of his feet and extra weight (and personality that doesn't handle adversity well). But that doesn't fit your narrative of "blithering idiot" and system, right? So let's just ignore pertinent variables (weight, injury) that played significant role in 33-49.

If you have seen the way he's look on Team USA in 3 games, you will notice a player that changes ends without lumbering and traps and rotates, and is moving 30-40% better than he did last year. He looks great!!!

He is in the right place more often and that's because he is moving freely without pain. It's okay we can agree to disagree on this one. I guess I notice plays and players in finer detail than you care to. My mind is not made up in advance. I recognize his potential for greatness and the barriers to greatness. I am analyzing in real-time, not crafting arguments with irrelevant stats or assigning labels (GOAT and HOF) that mean nothing in the context of a sputtering career.

27/11 at 80% to 85% health (if I had to estimate) is a testament to his talent. YES. But those numbers occurred while alienating second best player (Rudy), developing zero cohesion with teammates besides the one player willing to feed him the ball every possession, bickering constantly with refs, leading the league in technicals, sporadic defense, meddling offensive efficiency and another failed campaign, when a playoff run was there to be had.

It is very easy to be make counterpoints all summer long, because I have the facts on my side. :)

If you can't handle the heat....

Playing for team USA under Coach K, along side the best players in the world that can stretch the floor, is much different than playing for "what new coach this year?" in Sacramento. I had to laugh at that part.

P.S. Cousins is beast

Do people think their input is useful when they name call and demean? My attitude as a poster is to try to further a conversation hopefully by adding a new perspective. That is becoming extremely difficult as the number of savvy posters increases. I try very hard not to tick people off and am not maintaining any scoreboard internal or external that tracks whether I win or lose a discussion. People who are here to win are not only useless in my mind but damaging to the board in general, I realize my input is faltering but I still have some unique views based on my education.

I am not perfect.

Oh, and Blob, I can't stand the heat. Chalk that up as a win. Don't take my lack of response to you as any form of agreement. There are better things to do like make sure I don't miss taking my stool softeneer, et. al.

1. According to this study (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3687890/#ref11) there is no correlation between Plantar fasciitis and weight, height or BMI in an athletic population. If you don't have some kind of medical education it's pretty bold to paint your opinion of DMC injury as a fact. As with all studies there is the possibility, that the data may lead to a false conclusion, but this topic seems to be debatable in the medical research community, so I don't think we should act, like we know anything regarding DMC injury for sure.

2. Your constant lamenting about DMC personality and conditioning looks like finger pointing to me. You don't have any facts supporting the bolded parts of your post. You think it's the way you wrote and I'm not the one to tell you, you are wrong, because we can't know these things. Not from the outside looking in. All we do know are a few reports about DMC blowing up in the lockerroom and we can judge his on court demeanor. From my point of view, that's not nearly enough to come up with things like "alienating our second best player" or "developing zero cohesion with teammates". Rudy's frustration isn't necessarily related to DMC - maybe he lost faith in the Kings FO, still is angry about the Malone firing or there are other factors not related to DMC. We simply don't know the reasons for Rudy's frustration. All we can do is speculate and you always seem to come up with DMC as the main reason.

3. Now I know you are into some kind of ongoing argument with Bricklayer and I won't take any side in this, but I think you shouldn't go further down the path of speculation to support your arguments just to come out on top of a virtual debate between fans. To a certain extent your posts are always an interesting read and you make fair points, when writing about the unreasonable attempt to paint DMC as a post player or about the unreasonable amount of blame for George Karl on this board. But for my liking you go too far with all those stuff about DMC personality and conditioning.

I think in the future I'm going to refer to Blob as McQueen, since Steve McQueen was in the original picture, and he represents some sort of intelligent life, as opposed to the Blob, which is portrayed as an aggressive, indiscriminate, destructive enity. Hmmm! I may have to rethink this. Anyway, lest I be accused of ranting, not by you of course, got to cover all the bases today, I think McQueen makes some valid points. I happen to agree with some of what he says, I just don't agree with how he says it. Maybe it's just my personal taste, or I'm getting old and cranky. Doesn't matter, I'am who I'am, and I rather like who I'am, so sorry McQueen, you lose on that front.

I happen to think that there's constructive criticism, and destructive criticism. One is palatable and one is not. Since I doubt Cuz reads any of this nonsense, and I would advise him not to, it doesn't matter much what is written. I can give advice to players on this forum all day long and I'm sure I'm taking to myself for the most part. It happens at home quite a bit, so I'm used to it. Good practice for social media though. Anyway, I think we all want to be right, and sometimes we get so caught up in that want, that we lose perspective. That's where I think McQueen is. He's so determined to prove his point, that he's lost direction. I don't dislike him, or her as it may be, I'm just not sure who he or she is more critical of, Cousins, or the fans who like Cousins?

McQueen seems to be upset with the fans on this forum who praise Cousins, and is determined bring them back to what he perceives as reality. Thing is, sports aren't reality. They're intended to be entertainment and escape from reality. The only difference between an NBA game and a movie, is that the ending isn't predetermined. Or at least we hope so. Unfortunately too many people live vicariously through sports and take it far too seriously. Been guilty of that myself on occasion. A heart attack is a good wake up call. However, I don't recommend it since it can have an iffy outcome. Anyway, since I don't need any extra stress, I've put McQueen on ignore, which is shame, because I believe he/she is a bright person, and no, I'm not trying to butter McQueen up.

By the way, I met the real Steve McQueen one time at Pismo Beach. He was there along with the rest of us for the sand drags. He loved racing. Yep, that was at a stupid point in my life when I spent way too much money on building a racing machine. I was just good enough to lose. Trust me, in racing, money wins. Steve didn't win either. I'm sure that means something....

Boogie is playing great for Team USA this summer. Just like he did last summer:)

I'm tired of talking about Karl and last season.

But if you look at the title to this thread and then consider how Vivek and Vlade showed respect and support by being court side at the Team USA games. Then Cousins should know how much the Kings Ownership and Front Office value the Big Man.

I am looking forward to the Coach Joerger Era of Kings Basketball. Defense will once again be given priority. I like defense. I like it so much that if a team plays good defense and still loses I am OK:) Yep I prefer Good D over fast pace and a high number of shot attempts. So if the 2016/2017 edition of the Sacramento Kings are Boogie and a Band of tall/long defensive role players I will be really happy.

I will be happy because I think that Defense is the Key to success for a small market team. A team can play defense Every night. Even if the shots are not falling the defense can be really good. But if a team is good defensively and can score a little.......then look out!:) GO KINGS

I am not speculating when I say he lost 18 pounds since the off-season and dealt with chronic foot issues all year, because HE SAID IT, I didn't! And that reflected those like myself who questioned his effort and intensity all season long.

How does my contention compare to those who want to attest all his shortcomings were result of system and coach? It does NOT pass the sniff test in retrospect when you obviously see how much better he is moving now.

For those who are missing the Team USA games on NBA TV, Boogie is changing ends with or ahead of the pack, instead of trailing the pack. And when he shows on the guard on the pick and roll trap, he is rotating back into rebounding position. He didn't do this often enough for my liking last year. It was a weak show on the P&R, and he trailed plays way too often, and he LUMBERED up and down the court. That was weight and injury. And to more or lesser extent, a SOUR DISPOSITION when things didn't go his way (refs not gifting him calls or his shot not falling)

This was basically his season in a nutshell and I know because as a diehard I don't miss games. :)

As far as my lamenting, I was the first to say Boogie looks awesome on Team USA. He looks fantastic! This throws a loop to the posters who want to claim "hater" and whatever other silliness when I want the guy to succeed, I just think I know based on watching NBA for 25-30 years the threshold of efficiency it takes to win, or give your team a fighting chance, and he has NOT been good enough. Period.

Maybe that can change. This off-season is very encouraging. Because he is active and engaged, lean and mean, so even despite the HOLE in his game (low post moves), he can still be dominant most nights. And isn't interesting in most recent game he was totally ineffective out of the post? Which coincides with what I HAVE BEEN LAMENTING.... a LACK of low post arsenal and development of a go-to move.

But if you read other commentary on this board, and believe it. you will get a different take, which is the low post is where he belongs.
Be careful what you wish for, if you stick him down there, you are going to get mixed results at best, as most recent performance showed. Actually it wasn't mixed, it was awful, with 3-4 travel calls, and inability to flip in an easy shot from 3-5 feet. Fortunately Boogie has plenty of game to make up for this and this we can hang our hopes on, especially with Rudy out the door mentally if not physically.

You are over-thinking this. And your over-thinking amounts to irrelevant non-sense. Sorry just calling it like I see it. And you are NOT remotely accurate, which makes you commentary more illusory.

McQueen seems to be upset with the fans on this forum who praise Cousins, and is determined bring them back to what he perceives as reality

If you took time to comprehend what I was saying you would see I have been highly complimentary of Boogie in 4 games this season on Team USA, probably as complimentary as anyone this board! So this comment I am quoting above reflects an inability or unwillingness to process an unadulterated alternate opinion and respond sensibly.

Boogie is in great shape now. He wasn't all year long. He still sucks out of the post. Karl and Rondo catered to him ALL year long to maximize his skill set. This is the extent of my opinion on Boogie. And those who want to contend otherwise are going to get resistance from me. That's it. Besides that I think we can get along.

If you want to say Boogie spent too much time away from the basket, well, ummm, his bread is not butter out of the block so to speak, it is just not, where teams can send help, and he lacks lift and a flip shot.

And if we are going to contend the pace was "too fast" then are we also to contend all those rim runs with Rondo throwing ahead to Boogie before the defense could set was a bad play? I don't think so, unless Rondo was careless in the execution.

So rationale consideration needs to be exerted. But rather what you are doing is having debate with a projection of your own imagination without a basis in reality. Must be fun. But no hard feelings. Feel free to unignore me if you can forgive my "transgressions" ....I have no hard feelings towards anyone or you on this board. It is just basketball and its all in fun. But I am a counter puncher. You mess with the bull, you get the horns. ;)

Whatever you are doing is far more than basketball. You seem to find demeaning others to be a sport also. I am sure you don't see it that way but that's OK. Your conquests or whatever you think it is you are achieving does not expand my knowledge of the Kings one bit and I must admit that I come here to learn what I can about basketball or the Kings. I have benefited from the knowledge of many of the people you seem to want to demean. I value them.

Fortunately Boogie has plenty of game to make up for this and this we can hang our hopes on, especially with Rudy out the door mentally if not physically.
What a load of rubbish, carefully posted to keep propping up this psychotic agenda that you seem to be pushing on with regardless. Playing for team USA he has nowhere near as prominent role as he has with the Kings. His usage rate is nowhere near where it is with the Kings. His workload is significantly lightened and not to mention the inferior competition that he is playing against.

Now show me a star on that USA team that has the same workload as they have with their NBA team and where they are performing at an insanely high level for the entirety of the game and I will show you a goose that has laid a golden egg.

Rick Adelman and Chris Webber used to get complained about a lot by fans as well.

I was so glad when traded Webber and got rid of Rick. That's when the Kings went from shaky health and defense to a real powerhouse in the west.

It was such a relief when Chris was gone and I no longer almost got in fist fights with our fans who would boo him and FLEXIBLE PIECES!!! Our trajectory totally changed and we could finally go back to lovable losers with no hope of winning anything ever. All those nasty expectations and, shudder, hope, gone. Damn Cousins, trying to f that up. Doesn't he know we really just want to root for some second round draft pick to make it in the league?????

Boogie Cousins is an ALPHA, he aint got time for you beta types blob. Thats on the real.

I never said you were speculating when you say that he lost weight over the off-season. I said you are speculating when you draw the conclusion, that him being overweight or out of shape caused his plantar fasciitis, using that as an argument to question his effort and intensity. Plantar fasciitis is an injury caused by overload. Of course Boogie will move better after a rest period and treatment.

I watched every game of Team USA during this exhibition season. I think you are slightly overblowing things and you completely ignore the role Boogie has on Team USA. He isn't asked to carry the team on offense. He is asked to play a more skilled version of DeAndre Jordan - rebound, putback, rimrun, play D and make one or two post up plays during the game. Of course he looks more engaged on D like this. And of course his mood isn't a problem, when he is winning every game by 30 points or more.

I won't argue your point of Boogie being a low post presence, because I'm somwhere in the middle on this board, when it comes to these things. I think you make solid points, but tend to be a bit too harsh. Boogie is certainly one of the better post players in the league. It's just that the low post is not as effective as it once was.
