Countdown to Muss' being "Trumped"

Mozart

G-League
Ok, fans, that was one sorry-arsed season, wasn't it? Ugh.

Time to play taps.

" ........DAAAAAAAAAA ...................DAAAAAAAAA..."
Da da.................... ........ da da

Ok, the last game ended prior to 2200hrs, April 18th, 2007--how about if we set up sort of a virtual betting pool as to what hour Muss' being "Trumped", i.e. "Your Frigg'n Fired!" will be announced by whomever in the Kings' organization? Jus' for the fun of it. 'Tis better to laugh than cry, yes? Or, better yet, cry, then laugh, then cry, then laugh...

By what hour after 2200hrs (10pm), PDT, April 18th, 2007, will Muss get fired?

That is the BIG question facing GP and the Maloofs right now...to fire or not to fire, that is the question.

The winner of this cyber-betting pool gets bragging rights and...? Some donated Kings gear from sombody? Bragging rights, at least. The definition of the "time" that Muss gets fired is the exact hour of the announcement of his firing by somebody on the Kings' organization. That exact hour, whatever that hour is. Pick a whole-number hour on a particular day.

My time that I'll pick for the announcement is...um...1300hrs, PDT, April 21st, 2007.

1300hrs, April 21st.

I'll go with Friday at 3:00. The Maloofs are not going to be available to see that book Muss wanted to show them after the season, and Petrie is supposed to be meeting with Muss on Friday. Seems like as good a time as any!

I predict that he's gone by Friday, but I also predict our next coach will fare no better and that Muss has a successful career somewhere else (probably college).

I really hope the Kings don't drag this thing out and just do it ASAP. We all know it's coming, so just do it and get it over with.

The Maloof brothers were not at the final Kings game tonight in Sacramento. Rumor has it they were in Miami, FL "on business." The other less substantiated rumor says they were informally chatting with Stan Van Gundy about becoming head coach of the Kings. He's now working as a basketball and sports consultant with a local college there since being replaced by Pat Riley as Miami Heat head coach. Van Gundy (Stan that is) supposedly would like to return to Northern California. He was born and grew up in various parts of Cali along with his brother Jeff, current head coach of the Houston Rockets.

If that rumor is true there is one thing I dislike about it already... That should be Petrie's job.

If nothing more the Ron Jeremy likeness would be fun to joke about next season.

Van Gundy, huh? Makes total sense.

Too bad the Maloofs are doing the talking, though. I'd like to see Petrie doing some, you know, managing.

Last year, supposedly they asked GP to come up with a list of 10 cadidates. They ended up interviewing 2 seriously and Elie "asort of" from appearances. If the Maloofs are going to do the interviewing, I'd like to see them interview more than a couple and seriously take GP's advice.

And Petrie is scheduled to be on KHTK around 5:30. I'll go with 4:00 PM PDT, this Friday.

I actually doubt that we hear anything until next week, as far as Muss's fate goes...GP isnt going to reveal anything on KHTK on Friday, more than likely...thats too 'predictable'. But, who knows.

I think the Maloofs now realize they can't micro manage Kings on court personnel matters - at least we all hope so! "If" they are considering Stan Van Gundy I would bet they have discussed it thoroughly with Petire by now and went down Miami to have a chat and then maybe offer him the job as soon as Muss is axed - assuming his head rolls.

Stan Van Gundy would be my choice as a coach. He seems to be the best available out there other than Adelman who is just NOT coming back.

Stan Van Gundy is someone that I wanted us to get last year. I think he would be a good get.

I was thinking the press conferenace would happen before he was on KHTK. ;)

Agreed:) But I would like to see Iavaroni and Elie(again) brought in for interviews, as I think they would also be damn good coaches for this team.

They are intruiging but I would want be leaning towards hiring someone who has play off experience at this level which is something SVG has.

It thought he did a really good job of turning things around with the Heat. I for one would be very happy if he is our next coach.

Wow, I'd sure like it if we got Van Gundy.

would getting Stan Van Gundy mean we would be continuing our new "defensive" identity?

because i'm not sure i could take that. :(

Actually, Stan grew up in Upstate New York, in Brockport, NY, which is about 30 min outside Rochester. He attended SUNY/Brockport, graduating in 1981. His brother Jeff's first job was coaching Rochester's McQuaid Jesuit High School in 1985.

With all due respect, he did not grow up in upstate New York - no where near it. Both Stan and Jeff graduated from Alhambra High School in Martinez, Calif. about 60 miles from Sacramento. Both were outstanding high school basketball players. Jeff Van Gundy was born in Hemet and the older Stan in Indio in Southern California and they did not leave the state until going off to college.
