Congrats Boogie! First All-Star Game

Congrats big guy! You've made it despite the sabotage! You thoroughly deserve this and I am sure its a first of many more to come!

Go get them DMC!

You really gotta wonder...what is Cousins ceiling as a basketball player? top 3 in the NBA? Best in the NBA? Top 5 all time even?!?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if one day he is averaging 30-15. Imagine a guy with his size, speed, range, footwork, AND can hit 80% of his free throws consistently.

If the Kings coaches and front office can get him 3-and-D guys to surround him, wow

Congratulations DMC on a well deserved All-Star selection. Getting the first AS nod is tough but the subsequent ones should be a breeze. Do Sacramento proud!

Yes, it is.

First of All™, this is the ninth straight season that there has been at least one Commissioner's selection to replace an injured player. And second, look at a guy like Ray Allen: he was named as an injury replacement three times. Do you think he's referred to as a seven-time All-Star, or a ten-time All-Star?

Well if it is, perhaps you should read the rest of my post and enlighten yourself.

It seems like you love confrontation for the sake of confrontation. You're probably one of those guys that wants to get in a fight after somebody accidentally bumped into you at a bar. Absolutely no need for that reaction. Just like a smart alec response to a simple and honest question. No need...

I did read it; it's not as enlightening as you think it is. And it doesn't provide any additional detail for the question you asked, which is why I didn't include it in my response.

Your question may have been "simple and honest," but that doesn't mean that it was a good question. And, for the record, you already got the answer you were looking for before you decided to reply to me so, with respect to your bar fight analogy, it doesn't seem to me as though you were trying too hard to avoid that 'accidental' bump.

Doesn't include any additional detail? That's debatable. It's a valid question to ask if somebody gets to count this on their resume when they weren't originally picked as an all star. I'm not sure how short minded you have to be to not consider that as additional detail to the question I asked, but if you like to be stubborn, so be it...

Good question? Debatable again. I'm sorry not all of us are so enlightened on the intricacies of all star games. It still doesn't deserve a smart alec remark especially from a staff member.

Misunderstanding of the analogy...the accidental bump would be in reference to my simple and honest question which apparently is beneath you. The smart alec remark is the person wanting to fight. Got it? Great, I'm glad we're all on the same page.

Not really. The question was, does it count? Everything else was superfluous. Nothing you added to that post made the question any more valid, it just made it more long-winded.

It's not debatable at all, it was not a good question. Simple and honest, sure. Sincere? I'll take your word for it. But that doesn't make it a good question. And the notion that you might think that knowing the answer requires 'intricate' knowledge of the All-Star game is... odd.

Your comment about being a staff member is a deductive fallacy that derives from a negative premise. Moderators are not disallowed from being smart alecs.

You appear to be the one misunderstanding the analogy. If you're trying to make the case that your "simple and honest" question was the 'accidental' bump, then you can't turn around and claim that my three-word response was the semantic equivalent of 'picking a fight'. You asked the question, and the question was answered. If that's all you wanted, you could have just thanked dime dropper, and left me out of it.

Yep, you're right. You're always right...

Anyway, short answer = yes, and I don't think there is even any notation anywhere. Cuz is just an All Star, period. And 10 years from now nobody beyond the immediate fanbase is likely to even question how he got there.

And on the other hand, so far as I know, Kobe now is NOT an All Star. But could be wrong on that one if you are voted in. No idea what happens if Cuz got hurt tommorow. Would they then go to Lillard, and Cuz is NOT an All Star? Dunno.

Best player

If the 3 clowns either leave or get Mullin the hell out if here you will see it. He's getting 24-12-3 on 50% shooting with 0 shooters around him. Imagine how dominate he gets if we can bring 1 or 2 shooter around as well as a PF who can be respected. I'd love to also bring in a coach Karl/Thibs he would get better. I could see him getting
26-13-4 with the defense he played with malone here. Id love to go after danny green in the off season and hope Ben can get his stroke back and Nik can get his shot up. We'd have 3 shooters right there.

I would suspect that if you became an All Star no matter how it happened, it would go down in history that you were an All Star. I am directing this to answer the questions of how you made it; fan vote, coach's pick, or commissioner's pick. Also it is my answer to Kobe's situation or anyone else who might get injured or who was injured when picked. They are all stars.

This makes it simple for me to say that Cuz will go down in history as an all star even if he were to get injured tonight and be unable to play in the all star game.

Pretty sure Glenn is right. Not certain, but I thought if you were voted in by coaches or fans, or were an injury replacement, it counts as an AS appearance, regardless of whether you get injured before the game or not. Could be wrong, But, AFAIC, there is no limit to the number of AS that can appear each season.

Check it out. There were 13 players on the East, and 15 players on the West. Three on the West (Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant and Brandon Roy) and one on the East (Allen Iverson) were selected to the team but did not play because of injuries. They are still considered 2010 All-Stars.
