Congrats Boogie! First All-Star Game

At least Boogie knows he can make it as an AS while here, even if his first time wasn't the way it should have been. I suspect it will be much easier for him to make the team now that his first selection is out of the way. Perennial AS appearances should be expected now, if our FO doesn't [continue to] royally **** it up.

FTFY ;)

DeMarcus Cousins statement on heading to his 1st All Star game #NBAKings
"I'm extremely excited to play in my first All-Star game. I appreciate the recognition and want to also thank my teammates and the fans for their support throughout the season.
Representing the Kings and city of Sacramento is a great honor."

In a few years, when Cousins is a staple on the Allstar Team, wont the Fans and Coaches who did NOT vote for him look foolish. Silver had to step in and overrule the abject stupidity of the Fans and Coaches who were willing to leave the best big in the league off the Western Conference AllStar team.

I'm curious. When you're an all star sub, does it actually count on your resume? So when people look at a player and say he's been an all star 8 times, made the all NBA team 3 times, and has 1 MVP. Are the all star appearances where a player subs count on that resume?

I would assume so; otherwise, Cousins is going to be an all star 0 times, with 1 all star game MVP :D

On another note, I wouldn't be surprised to see him be MVP of that game. A motivated Boogie is a beastly Boogie. Just need to get him the ball enough. Hard when guards usually dominate the ball in these settings, but Boogie's ability to handle the ball and lead the break will help him.
There's no chance that Kerr gives him enough minutes.

I don't think it matters who starts and who doesn't.

on Boogie making it.... F*** YEA! GO GET EM BIG GUY

Why wouldn't they?

It counts as an official All-Star appearance.

Finally a Kings news that made me happy!! I wasn't expecting him to make it as there are only a few spots in the All-star team and so many talented players in the West.

Congrats to the Boogie Man!!! I like Lillard but it's not Cousin's spot he should be taking, they should have left out Durant or Westbrook as they have not played enough games this season.

Well that's some good news. Congrats Boogie. Deserved.

this is excellent news for boogie, and excellent news for the kings. as bad as things have gotten this season, they really don't need demarcus to be carrying any additional resentment...

that said, congrats, big cuz! the front office didn't do you or the team any favors when they fired mike malone, but hopefully this represents the first of many accolades...

Let's hope that he continues to follow the Anthony Davis career progression plan: this year, Commissioner's replacement. Next year, All-Star starter on a winning team.

He had the most important ear with him, the one who made the ultimate decision, in India. We don't know if he did or didn't. I was just glad he was recognized by both the league AND the owner.

Congrats, Demarcus!
maybe vivek threatened the indian mafia. anyway great honor and well-deserved for boogie.

Couldn't be happier for boogie.
The one thing good to happen this year and it happens to the kid thats really upped his game. Congrats big fella.

thank you, Mr. Silver, for righting this rather blatant wrong. as Kings fans we're starved for even a morsel of good news, and you delivered. congrats to boogie, too, of course. the honour might've come a year late and not as directly as it should've been, but at least you've finally got there. have fun in New York.

Why wouldn't they?

Because he is an alternate. Is it really that hard to see the other side of why he wouldn't be counted as an all star on his resume?

Technically, he didn't get voted in or picked by the coaches to be a part of the all star game. He was included because one of the all stars that was picked was hurt. Now you can try to turn this conversation into me not believing Cousins is an all star, but that would be entirely untrue. I'm very happy this counts on his resume.

Anyone who makes the team, however they get there, is an All-Star. If they're really going to get nit-picky about leaving guys out of the "official" recognition for the event it should be the fan-voted ones who basically just won a popularity contest. But even that would be arbitrary and unnecessary. There's no shame in being hand-picked by the commissioner to play in the game. Boogie should have been an All-Star last year and we all know he's more than earned it this year as well.
