i got a new laptop and I want to connect it to my linksys router. My computer internet obviously works and I'm having trouble setting up the connection for my laptop. It already has a integrated card installed, but it not connecting with my router :(

Help is appreciated. Thanks in a advanced

Assuming your wireless router is unencryted, make sure your SSID names match on both ends (In windows XP, you typically don't have to worry about it, but with older OS's you'll have to tell your wireless card which SSID to look for).

How do I get the SSID and how do I make sure that its the same on both?

I tried using the Easy Wireless Setup (using my flash drive) but it didn't work.
All I really need to do is find a way for my laptop to work with the router, other than that, my regular computer internet is working just fine.

hmm...SSID is basically the "name" you give your connection. It probably isn't an issue for your regular desktop computer because Windows XP automatically scans for available SSIDs (wireless router signals) and you simply connect to it. If you look at the wireless connection in your desktop computer and see what that connection is named (like "pixelpnet" or "myrouter" or "jsmith436"), that is the SSID for that signal.

another possiblility is that your wireless card settings are set on "Wireless Network" instead of "Access Point", you want "access point" if you are simply using your wireless router for the internet.

I wish I could be more specific in my instructions, but I have no idea how to access your laptop wireless card settings. Try to see if you can find the settings for SSID and a drop down menu (or check box) that changes from "Wireless Network" to "Access Point".
