The reason people are moving to Phoenix is because of its steadfast commitment to building new housing developments. It's more affordable to buy in Phoenix than many other major cities in the US. And post-pandemic, with the continued spread of work-from-home opportunities in the job market, those who haven't been able to afford a home are pinpointing Phoenix as a worthwhile landing spot. But this is of no concern to an NBA player, for whom affordability is not an obstacle.

failure of imagination, hardly. look at geography to tell you all you need to know. Affordability applies to folk like us on this message board correct but that doesn't dismiss the appeal of the city for an NBA player and especially one with a family or incoming one.

How did you read @Padrino saying that the things you cited as being appealing to an NBA player about Phoenix as not being unique to Phoenix, and interpret that as him "dismissing the appeal of the city"?

Durant's 37 yro this year and too many injuries. Would not trade much for him. 'Shelf life' for smaller players may be a bit better. Similar goes for James. Late 30s is twilight if a player is lucky or good enough.

Maybe he’s onto something and the warm LA weather is responsible for the Lakers getting all the stars in the world to play for them and not everything else.
 
Enjoyed This piece and Thibs. Feel some of it could apply to Mike Brown.

What interested me is what happened next. Bridges said that he and Thibodeau had spoken about his workload. But Thibodeau told reporters the two “never had a conversation about it.”

As someone who studies the cultures of businesses and organizations, I found Thibodeau’s response telling. To me, it suggested a stubbornness and unwillingness to consider other options, as if the conversation wasn’t even worth having.

But the question hasn't been answered, because you accused him of being dismissive of the appeal of the city, and he didn't actually say anything dismissive. The question was, why did you read it that way?

seems to me that you and I consider being dismissive in different terms
 
Interesting, seemed like there was something in the works when they fired Thibs. Be funny if he ends up in Dallas
