* The reports indicating that the Kings coaches were upset about the Jimmer Fredette selection (No.10) are puzzling and inaccurate. The only coaching voice that matters - that of head coach Paul Westphal - resonated loud and clear; he wanted the BYU star all the way.
* Two players the Kings were not enamored of: Brandon Knight and Kawhi Leonard.

I take this with a grain of salt. The article has dueling reports of what the staff wanted on its face. Berger says they wanted Burks and @wojyahooNBA says they wanted Parker or Felton. Which is the right information, pray tell, or are they both wrong?stumbled upon this article, looks like yesterdays happenings were all Maloofs meddling...http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/30225051
If this is remotely true, I will watch less games this year and in the future. The Sacramento coaching staff isnt happy with the selection of Fredette, sources say. They wanted a veteran guard, ala Felton or Parker.

This is serious stuff, if the selection of Fredette stopped Parker from being a King.
There is NO WAY that Fredette is going to be as good of player as Tony Parker - and I will gladly eat crow if I am wrong.
Let's hope this statement doesn't spawn another "report" in the media. That's how usually rumors get started. We have no idea how sound either one of those reports is. After all, they could have gotten them from someone with an axe to grind or rumor starts to be converted into "reality," because it keeps being repeated. If this is remotely true, I will watch less games this year and in the future.

You know what the meaning of if is?You know this for a fact??
If the trade were possible to work out, I have no doubt the Maloofs would have gone for Parker over Fredette. Parker's already a guaranteed marketing positive, where ever he goes.I read the article - but go look at the quotes closer.
Coaching staff can like Fredette over Leonard and Knight, but STILL want a vet PG before Fredette.
We all know that a reliable source (Wojo?) reported that Spurs were in talks with Sac about trading Parker for #7 draft pick + something.
We don't know the details of whether that would have required RJ to be included or not.
But Parker WAS on the trading block, and what if the Maloofs wanted Fredette more than they wanted to use the #7 pick to trade for Parker?

The only coaching voice that matters - that of head coach Paul Westphal - resonated loud and clear; he wanted the BYU star all the way. In the hours leading up the draft, the front office types/coaches debated about a group that consisted of Fredette, Kemba Walker, Klay Thompson and, somewhat surprisingly, USC forward Nikola Vucevic. The Kings liked Vucevic a lot and, in fact, tried to move up to grab him before the 76ers took him at No.16. Additionally, Alec Burks also moved higher up their draft board in the final weeks. Ultimately, and as always, team president Geoff Petrie made the call. He was said to be vacillating between Walker and Fredette before the John Salmons trade. Thereafter, he felt Fredette - an exceptional deep shooter - was the better fit, but would have been fine with Walker. The point became moot anyway when the Bobcats drafted Walker at No.9.

Well the majority of KF's that posted in that Personnel thread were against the Spurs trade permutations (mainly the potential inclusion of RJ), so I don't see how there's "no doubt" the Kings would have done it (especially if the Maloofs wanted to keep the pick to get Fredette). If the trade were possible to work out, I have no doubt the Maloofs would have gone for Parker over Fredette. Parker's already a guaranteed marketing positive, where ever he goes.
Grant is talking about this with PW on the radio right now. According to Westphal, all those reports are bs, Jimmer was their target all the way.

Come on now, kiddos. In the internet age, there's no fact checking, there's no "sources", especially in blogs.
For example, I know the following for a fact:
I heard from someone scouting the Kings' picks that Walker or Fredette would be fine, but he wouldn't be surprised if Leonard was the pick.
Where did that come from?
Our very own cervesa drinking chimp, mr. bajaden. It's not terribly difficult to put something together that sounds realistic. As for the bloggers, I'll take Ailene's tidbits (I can't believe I just said that) over Matt Moore. Who the hell is Matt Moore anyway?
The main issue that people haven't brought up yet is: why do we even care what this coaching staff thinks of a particular talent one way or another? They've proven over the last 2 years that they are as inept a group as they come. Even if it were true that they wanted another player, there's no way that management or ownership would stand by idly as they banished Jimmer Freddette to the deepest parts of the bench. Donte and Casspi? Sure, Westphal can play mind games with those two role players all day. Which he willingly did, but that's beside the point.
At the end of the day, they work with the talent they are given by management. If anything, their endorsement of one player over another would give me reason for pause, as their ability to evaluate talent was reflected by their completely erratic management of the team through most of last season.
I'd be willing to bet my car, that Jimmer gets far more leeway then Donte, Omri, or Cousins have received from Westy. I think Jimmers leeway will be closer to that of what Reke has had, right or wrong. But I also think he's a smarter player today than 3 of the 4 I mentioned. I'd say Cousins has the best understanding of the game out of that bunch, along with Jimmer.
Also thought it was interesting in Westys interview today, that he said he hopes Jimmer gets together with some of the guys he'll be playing next to, and that his work ethic rubs off on them. He said Jimmer is a gym rat, and he has no doubt he'll keep himself in top shape, and that he's not sure other guys on the team put in the time needed to improve, in the gym. Grant said, wow, most teams don't look for a rookie to set the example. Westy replied, well, it's never too soon to start leading.
I want nothing to do with Voisons tidbits. Not sure she feels the same way about Jimmers tidbits though. Getting a little hot in here.
I'm down with running a Jimmer/Cousins pick n roll play all day all day!
