City Hall - Feb 14th

We all have one goal in common and that is to build a new downtown arena so our Kings will stay.

But the Kings are just one piece of the puzzle. There are other pieces too including: more jobs, local and regional money, revitalization, concerts and other events, nightlife, two economic engines, the people, investments, opportunities, vision, etc.

When you put the puzzle together the facility is all about and for Sacramento.

Please join us at Sacramento City Hall on Tuesday, February 14th. For those of you who live in or near Sacramento please attend. We cannot get this done as keyboard warriors posting our opinions and comments on here, the Bee, etc. We cannot get this done by posting on Facebook or tweeting about it on Twitter.

Our voices must be heard inside Sacramento City Hall. That is where the battleground is.

Thanks to Mayor Kevin Johnson we won the battle. But the war is not over. We must show our support inside the council chamber and show the council that we are the majority.

Sorry for the repeat of history but we know what we are fighting for but once again I want to remind you how we are having our voices heard.

FANS on December 13, 2011, at Sacramento City Hall.

FANS on January 17, 2012, at Sacramento City Hall. Notice how we have new members, reinvented ourselves & the words on the front of our shirts. When the puzzle is put together the facility is all about one thing: Sacramento.

We made our debut on December 13, 2011, at a Sacramento City Council meeting. We shocked the council, citizens and media with our "human power point presentation."

Here is what we accomplished with our theme of "Bigger Than Basketball."

We returned on January 17, 2012, but this time with no arena on the agenda. No one knew we would show up and had the element of surprise once again. This time we wanted to let the council know we are the majority, we are still here, we want them to know we support the arena and everything that comes with it and we heard the council's voices too.

Let's make history one more time and show our support. Please join us by posting a comment that you can make it. We need to know how many will come with you so you will all get a white FANS T-shirt.

Let's do a white-out at Sacramento City Hall on the most romantic evening of the year, Valentine's Day. If you have a date then spend it at City Hall. Valentine's Day is just a Hallmark holiday. But this meeting will more than likely be the deciding vote to proceed or not and this is our chance to show our support. Thank you.

2 days later.

0 people (other than the usual people I know I can count on) said they will volunteer their time to show up at a city council meeting that will more than likely proceed with an arena or come to an end.

We are now less than 2 weeks away. We need all the support we can get.

Who is in???

25% chance I can make it.

Also a Kings road game at Chicago starting at 5pm !
I'll tape it to watch later. The city council meeting is far more important that night. Folk, I have to drive and hour and a half to get to city hall. I could use that evening to visit my son on his 34th birthday, but the council meeting is priority number 1 for me that day. Our hopes for a new arena could end that night. I want to be there to support moving forward as fast as possible.

I would totally be there if we weren't taking care of our friend's 2 babies...to go along with our 7 yr old and almost 2 yr old. Can't leave my wife to take care of 4 kiddos all by herself. I will be monitoring everything via Twitter though...Carmichael Dave does a great job of updating everything.

You need to follow me on Twitter. I will have BIG news on the OKC at Kings game in an hour or so.

The countdown is on and we have a little over a week left until the big city council meeting on Tuesday, February 14th.

I'm still waiting to hear from anyone from our group who will join us that evening. It will be a historic night and our voices must be heard.

It's been over a week and still NOT one person has told me they will join us and bring others to city hall on the 14th.

After the 14th I will tell everyone what I have been trying to do behind the scenes in preparing for Dec 13, Jan 17 and now Feb 14.

If a 5-4 vote gets me more bodies then it will be worth it.

If we don't show our support inside city hall then all will be lost.

I hope I start to hear from people now.

Looks like we may need to rally the troops for 2/28 as well. It appears that may be when they vote on the term sheet to present to the NBA. Crap.

I'm for that mindset. But based upon what they said last night. You 2/28 is going to be much tougher and important.

Gear up for both, because Sac needs to go 2-2 on those meetings. But don't cheat 2/28 and get fans ready for it now.

I'm not clear on the difference between 2/14 and 2/28.

February 14th Staff will present the most qualified responses to the Council for approval of
Qualified Bidders
Upon Council approval of the City, NBA, Kings, operator and developer terms for the finance,
development and construction of the entertainment and sports complex and identification of sources
for the backfill of the general fund:
Staff will present to the City Council for consideration a recommendation to
proceed to the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage with Qualified Bidders,
drafting of the parking concession terms, hiring of outside counsel and financial advisors and an administrative budget.

2/28 is something different. I've heard that term sheet from the NBA, AEG, city negotiations is going to be presented. Don't exactly know if there is a vote or not that night. Be prepared I guess.

Me too.....I'm just a born worrier. Really bad for the health. An elementary school teacher's comment to my parents on one of my report cards was, "Lynne is such a little worry-wart." No, I'm not proud of it. ;)

I don't think the bids would be done in 2 weeks, but I guess it's not impossible.

The RFP is a pretty long process. I don't expect a bid selection on that to come until later this year. The city is supposed to get a ballpark high-low from the remaining group of bidders. I expect they will reduce the 13 number down to around 5 for next week. I'm guessing on the 2/28 date as being term sheet related to the City, NBA and AEG negotiations. But that was all just rumor based from reading.

I can't imagine the actual bid closing date for the parking deal could be much before June and more likely later.

Yes, my understanding is the term sheet outline of the whole financing deal to be presented to the NBA is what the 2/28 vote will be on. It should pretty much have all the financing listed, with an estimate for the parking deal, based on the appraisal the city got and early estimates from potential bidders.
