Christmas lights

Had to install all the little hooks on the house trim for our Christmas lights yesterday (new house - didn't have any hooks up to hang the lights yet) and my right thumb is a tad bit sore.

Put on about 100' or so of hooks at 16" on center. That covered the front of the house at the eave line. I think the garage and other side of the house will wait to next year. Dormer windows, too. Unless the weather is nice next weekend and I have time to kill, but I have anough on my plate already.

Didn't actually get the lights up yet. Soon.

I've seen folks getting their trees already, starting as early as Thanksgiving weekend. Is it just me, or is that just a tad bit early to get a tree? How can they keep it green that long? I think we'll get ours next weekend.

Oh, and I assume everyone has seen this, but it is time again to marvel at it:

I got you beat. I don't even get a Christmas tree. Don't decorate either. I don't think I've had a tree since 1985. of course this year I'm going down to mom and dad's so I'll will probably O.D. on Christmas!! ;)
They'll be in Texas next year so I figure I should go down this year while everyone's still close by.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't get a tree or decorate. I'm the scrooge at work too. Just not into Christmas.

I like Xmas, but I seemingly remember a time when we as a culture didn't celebrate it for the entire month of December like we do now. Thankfully, I can get my lights and tree fixes from good folks like Warhawk.

Didn't it actually start before Thanksgiving?? I feel bad for people in retail that have to listen to Christmas music for 2 months!!

I've heard that some radio stations will slip in some Xmas songs even before Halloween! Talk about a jump-start!

I've got my whole house decorated but no outside lights as the weather usually reduces them to sputtering shadows of their former selves long before Christmas. I do, however, have lighted decorations in virtually every window, along with my ceramic village which now has seven different buildings. I still think the good folks at MSE should bring out a ceramic Arco Arena. I know I'd buy one to add to my village!

I've got my tree up and decorated, and I've just brought out all the moving holiday stuffed toys such as the White Cat with long eyelashes that sings "Santa Baby."

I don't care when merchants started their seasonal displays. I'm just having fun putting out my collection of various decorations.

:D

Never been big on lights but I am hoping to get my tree this weekend. We might cut our own this year.

I don't participate or believe in the whole religious aspect behind Christmas but I love the Christmas tree and the idea of giving gifts and getting together with family. My wife and I bought an artificial Christmas tree last year and put it up this year for the first time. It's pre-lighted and my two-year old absolutely loves it. We also have some Christmas stars and lights around the apartment.

One shelf of my Christmas village.
