This forum will crash tomorrow during the draft period and in the hour or so afterward. Is there a chat room we all could meet in?

Actually, I could create one off of one of my web sites but I'm looking for some guidance.
 
You should create a Kingsfans.com fan page on face book and we can all "chat" with each other on that page.
 
There was a kingsfans irc chat for a long time, I'm not sure if that's still around/usable.
 
Yeah, this place will crash tomorrow. Good thinking Glenn to have a backup plan. There was a chat room last year but I forgot where.
 
Slim should know but it will give me something to do rather than develop a headache reading the notes on this forum. I'm burned out trying to follow logic that doesn't seem logical. vne your note that said we trade MKG for Gasol and then go searching for a defensive minded SF made my head turn around 1 1/2 times so now I have to face the keyboard backwards.

Chat rooms are easy to set up.

Oooooh, and this place WILL crash and a lot of people will be pissed so I better get something going so people can bookmark it.
 
I think that's a great idea Agent23. Why don't you create a KingsFansForum page on Facebook? That would be the easiest thing to do.
 
You could always try mIRC. The server is irc.bludgeon.org and the room name is #Kingsfans

I just double-checked and this room is still up and running. Slim has been the one running it so I'll drop him a note and let him know we may be needing it tomorrow.

There already is a Facebook page for Kingsfans.com :) Check it out.

I'll create a Chat Room. I never could figure out irc and if I can't, a lot of people can't. I'm going to work with what I know. Bookmark this website and I will leave the link to the chat room readily available when I have it finished.

Also, check out the web site and find out what Glenn looked like and what interested him in 1963. :) Gaack!!!

Whatever you choose to do. I do know that we used to get a LOT of people in the IRC chat. If you like I could walk you through the set-up. It's really pretty easy.
 
You just need to decide ONE alternative and stick with it. Otherwise, you'll have some people going to one chat room, while others go to different ones and some people are stuck on Facebook. In a perfect world, the board won't crash and this will all be moot.

The site will most likely not crash, but it will most likely slow to an unusable crawl for awhile by the shear number of hits we will get. I am looking to upgrade the server but didn't want to do it until after the draft in case it makes things worse or I break something.

I could set up a temporary forum on a cloud host to test it out if anyone is interested?

Sounds good to me.
 
It would probably be a big announcements only option. The problems are it is very basic as far as features go and we couldn't migrate all our existing content over there.
 
I already set one up and had a visitor. If you want me to take it down, I will do so. Too many cooks spoil the broth.

I was more thinking of just a filler space. I know PacersDigest has one that merely kicks in when their board is down. Keeps members informed so they know the problem is being addressed.
 
I just made a "test" comment. Looks pretty bare-boned but serviceable to me. :)
 
Any other opinions? I tried to check out the chat room but I can't because Java is disabled on my work computers.

The alternative forum does allow registrations with a paid hosting account but I figured that's overkill for right now.

The other chat room can be set up without java.
