The optimistic view
I think the Kings are going to stun everyone with dazzling grace and agility, I think Ron Artest and KT are going to be traded for a bunch of players that really help our team, and I think our draft picks are going to be amazing. So there.
Seriously, too early to tell. If we retain Artest, I think tensions flare at some point during the season when he gets frustrated at one or more of his players and/or coaches, and is such a distraction that if affects the team. If we trade Artest, I think we have a shot at playing .500 ball. We came close last year...and the reasons stated above are valid. To me, the big key is whether Brad Miller is going to have another good year like last year.
Who knows? Stranger things have definitely happened. Until I see otherwise, and maybe even after that, I'm looking forward to good things, and I'll say that .500 ball is a possibility.

It may or may not be realistic, it's a LONG season, a lot can happen, but that's the goal - too repeat - 50 wins. If the Kings improve by another 5 wins over last seasons mild miracle 38 victories considering all the injuries, turmoil, etc. it wouldn't be as much a miracle in Coach Reggie's second season - even though it would be above .500.

i would love for the team to end up with a +.500 record and even make the playoffs this coming season but i doubt that it will happen. im guessing we'll have the same record as the previous season or something close to it. with no caproom and mediocre players signed through the next season i dont care if we make the playoffs and lose in the first round. we arent bad enough to get a top 3 pick and petrie is to scared to trade for a better one. so losing now to win in the long run wont work with this team. there will be a lot of pgs in next years draft but we just sign beno to a 5 yr deal...

It is really too early to tell. Untill all the teams are finished making their moves it is almost impossible to make a guess on where we will end up.
Cause in the end, where the Kings finish will rely on how the other team play as much as how they play.

It is early to tell,but after this latest trade I am pretty excited about our team.I think we're gonna be somewhere around 50%,but also,I don't think that 8th team in western conference will need that many wins like last year.We will be really close to the playoffs.

Well I certianly don't think this last trade gets us any closer to .500 THIS year. Quite the opposite -- short term, we bled major talent. Greene won't be ready this year, Bobby is just about done. It was a move for the future thogh, so that's ok.
As for Reef he apparently showed up to get some work in around summer camp, adn sounded very much like a player who might be done. Was apparently the first full speed work he had done -- which is amazing given that we had not heard anything about him in 9 months. And was talking about how you go until your body says you can't anymore. I have real doubts he retires with so many things he has wanted to do still undone (althoguh he at least made the playoffs once with us), but I do have my fingers crossed at this point. Certainly the last thing you want is him back and stealing minutes from Hawes and Thompson, or even Greene and Sheldon for that matter. If he's just a glorified extra coach, fine -- he's a nice enough guy. But he's the past.
I don't think we will get to .500. I don't want to get to .500, but that is here nor there. Many of us that wanted what some consider to be "tanking" really just wanted a committment to playing the kids full time and it appears we are finally getting that. Let the chips fall where they may. Realistically I am expecting us to fall off 6-10 games from last season if we also get Brad shipped off and go completely young.
I believe .500 is asking/expecting too much from such a young team. All of the young guys need minutes to develop their individual game as well as working and start gelling as a team. I will be very surprised if our record improves from last year ... neither good nor bad ... just the learning curve for young players and young team. No matter what I will enjoy the season because I see us moving in a direction that IMO is correct.

I disagree, I don't think the drop off is very big if at all. I think the team chemistry will be better. no more of artest will he play won't he play 30 minutes before tip off.
SF was arguably our strongest position. yes the play there will go down some. but PG was our weakest position. Bobby knows how to play the position. yes his skill level is down, but its way ahead of the other bobby or singletary as far as running the team. there won't be as drastic drop off as we have seen the past few years.
it really depends on injuries. if they stay healthy they have a god chance at making .500.
