just saw this on a ESPN chat with Ford... he seems to think the kings will eventually plan on Evans playing at the 2, and should be considering moving Martin before the deadline... so heres his deal.

K-Mart for Mark Blount and Oleksiy Pecherov's expiring contract and the rights to Ricky Rubio....

while this would be a great pick me up for all those who were crying about Evans over Rubio (haven't heard from you guys in awhile LOL!) I kinda think that Evans is playing the Point pretty dang well for not just being a rookie but also being only his 2nd year playing the Point....

Also what worries me most about playing Tyreke at the 2 is that he isn't a slasher and wouldn't be better off with a PG throwing dimes to him under the basket.

what do you all think? Forget rubio but anyone else think Evans is a lock at PG ? i think hes only gonna get better.

I vote against this deal.... If we move Martin its for another SG that would fit better with Evans, or a star Center.... but not for a PG even if its Rubio

also Chad Ford thinks the Bulls should make a run at Martin as well to make up for the loss of Ben Gordon

That guy won't play in the NBA for two years, if then? Add Ford to the list of people who need to turn the page.

Chad Ford is a rumormonger with a fetish for certain players. He's also probably in his annual time warp, inhabited this season along with Ailene Voison, where he just can't let go of the Rubio to the Kings "reality" that he assumed would result from the draft. So he's still going to advocate it. I would take it as almost completely obvious that is not what is going to happen.

And as for the Bulls, much as I am sure they would like to continue collecting ex-Kings -- how's that Salmons/Miller thing working out in the windy city? Strange/shocking isn't it how that team now has no heart and is spiraling downward. Odd. -- they have little that they would be willing to part with that we need. We liked Noah, both at draft time and last year. But now with the breakout year they aren't going to do that. They could of course dangle Thomas, but I am not sure we have ever liked him and he's too small to fill the hole we need (or be worth Kevin). This board has mentioned Heinrich, not sure the front office ever has. In any case, defense aside Beno and Sergio blowing up have obviated the need there. Guess their #1 is gaining in value as things sink.

The larger issue however is that Tyreke is tearing up the league as a PG, and again a hack like Ford is probably only dimly aware of that and still working off his antiquated predraft notes and predictions. Moving Martin isn't about moving Reke into Martin's spot, its about us having a lot of bodies to fill that spot, and Reke/Kevin not having complimentary games. Its also about using Kevin to get us an impact big man, something we will be hardpressed to do otherwise. Its not about making up stupid fantasy trades for hack writers with player fetishes.

Well said

Chad Ford is another constant in the universe, and as usual he's way off. There is NO way I would ever even look twice at this kind of deal. IF we end up moving Martin, it's got to be for a lot more than Mark Blount, an expiring and rights to someone who might well never step foot on the court in an NBA uniform.

Im sure we will keep Kevin at least until the trade deadline next year. If the team isnt progressing and or the Kev/reke duo isn't working then maybe Geoff looks to move him.

Did not Chad Ford grade Kings "F" for picking Evans over Rubio at the time? I wanted Ricky but was quite happy with Evans because of Rubio's contract issues and possibility he would stay in Europe for a year or two.

Martin is so injury prone I might consider this trade but biggest need is obviously a shot blocking, rebounding inside presence. For Martin you should get someone close to an Amare S. - not some would be stars.

Trade deadline is not until Feb. so I'm content to see how Martin and later Cisco fits in with Kings current exciting group. Imagine Evans attacking the basket constantly and when doubled just firing it out to Martin for wide-open three. Or see him slicing over for a deuce or one of his typical get to the line and make em.'

Lastly, we now have "Spanish Chocolate," and at 24 he's just coming into his own and has been a pleasant surprise so far in a Kings uni.

What about your idea last year of putting Martin in the Manu role off the bench? Start Garcia, who I think compliments Tryeke as much as any other guard except the ghost of Doug Christie. That way we could limit Martin to 30 minutes a game and keep from injuring himself all the time and he would be facing inferior competition off the bench.

This trade is the stupidest thing I've seen in a long time. Yes lets give the twolves a 20+ PPG scorer that can shoot 45/40/85% for a rookie who isn't even playing and an expiring contract.

Hmm, I like Deng, Thomas, Noah and Hinrich on the Bulls. Deng would be a great pickup IMO but it's too bad that he already plays the same position that everyone else on the team does (although he can play PF too).

No thanks to the Minny deal. We can do better than that

tyreke been playing the point since high school

There is only 2 players from the T-Wovles I would be interested in getting and that Al Jefferson and Kevin Love.

If T-Wolves are interested in trading Al for Kevin, I am all for it ;)

Chad Ford is Ailene Voison; Ailene Voison is Chard Ford. Finkle is einhorn. Einhorn is Finkle

umm playing the point in high school is not quite the same as the NBA... and honestly he played the point in college for only half the year...

but its natural to him

'' Defensively, Evans may already be one of the best at his position, in no small part because he grew up playing against older talent. In seventh grade, he was the starting point guard for the varsity at American Christian high school team in suburban Philadelphia. "I was always bigger than people my age," he said. "When I was [playing] in my age group, people would say, 'He isn't how old he says he is -- he's older.' But I didn't pay that any mind. I would just go out there and play ball. And when I played with older guys, I struggled for a couple of days, but then when I got the hang of playing with them I got better and better."
He grew used to being pushed around and learning to push back. As the seventh-grade point guard on the high school team, he recalls, "There was a guy on my team, a senior point guard way stronger than me. He would try to be physical with me and push me in the post. That's when I realized I had to get in the weight room. So I got a trainer, I got bigger."

I agree with what a lot of other posters have said... Tyreke needs the ball in his hands. When Wade won his title Damon Jones was his pg. Michael Jordan did his damage with Steve Kerr and BJ Armstrong at the point. Let's take a page out of these guys' books and look to pair Reke up with a sharp shooting pg in the future. Udrih can shoot the 3 so I'm fine with him for now... an upgrade at center is far more important than an upgrade in the backcourt.

Playing the point in high school was all the credential Rose or Jennings needed to be declared PG's before they went on to play one and zero years respectively of point in college.

Chad Ford is an idiot! I bet he only read Kings' game but not watch it!

Evans size and strength advantage will lessen if he won't play the PG spot.
Although TO's has been a concern on his game, it's acceptable to the extent that he is still a rookie and he can negate other PG's offense by doing a hell of defending the PG position. He can rebound, pick pocket PG's and he can BLOCK them almost every game.

As what some articles said Evans is the Lebron James of PG. That already says a lot of the limitless advantages of letting Tyreke play the point!

On the last 3 games we won, he pick pocketed Arenas (a PG), left Jennings (a PG) on the pick, and defended Rose (a PG) on a possible game tying shot! That's just exhibit A, my dear!

Al Jefferson? Really? An undersized big man who can't play defense? I think we've been there already.

Love on the other hand...but we still should try for Noah. Its just too damn bad he's doing so well this year. His breakout year really could've waited a season.

i'd take kevin love over joakim noah, to be perfectly honest. k-love's got a higher ceiling, imo...

after coming back from injury this season, he's averaging 14.5 pts/gm, 12.3 rbs/gm, and 2.4 asts/gm. he was a real bright spot for the t-wolves in a bad loss to the hawks tonight with 15 pts and 19 rbs. he's got beastly talent in the post, tons of moves with which to score, and he just gobbles up the d-boards. he's what i wish spencer hawes could become...

Chad Ford has a chub for Rubio. If you go back and look at the 2009 draft evaluations, he was all over RR and he apparently still is. Didn't Rubio just sign a new deal? He's NOT coming over in the next few years IMO unless he's guaranteed a starting spot, and that isn't the case anymore with Beno and Sergio running point with some consistency and production. Plus, Evans has shown to be too much for PG's to handle when he plays point, so it gives him a big advantage. He can't play full time SG because he can't shoot at this point. I think he will always be a guard who splits minutes at both backcourt positions, which makes trading for an aloof, unproven pure point guard (who wants the starting spot) ridiculous.

Chad Ford is a moron.
