I was in old town yesterday and saw half of the Cal STRS building mural of Demarcus and, I think Tyreke. Anyone have a picture of the completed mural? Or know what it says? They were putting up the first half yesterday and it is HUGE.

Ooh, NICE!!! I didnt hear about this until now! Just what we were talking about in earlier threads about putting up stuff downtown. Is it on the side facing the river(facing East)? I'll see if I cant get a pic tomorrow when I'm at work.
 
I work at CalSTRS and have some information on the mural... the other player is Tyreke and the tagline at the bottom is, "Here We Rise." It is part of their community outreach... It will remain on the building until the end of November...
 
It should be completed by today or tomorrow... The workers have to wait for the sun to pass the East side of the building. They start their last phase at Noon today! Looking forward to it!!!

Yeah, but buildings don't play ball without shoes on :)

Edit: I like the community getting behind the Kings all of a sudden. Gives me hope for the future.

That thing is HUGE! One of my co-workers is in Old Sac and is going to send me a pic when it's finished...I'll post later!
 
Correct on the banner height... around 150'. It does from our 17th mechanical floor down to our 5th floor... we don't have a 13th floor, so do the math!!!

Well, there's a new tweet informing us of a "major announcement" on Thursday (http://twitter.com/SacramentoKings/statuses/24507731251) linking to that site, and there's a huge mural reading "Here We Rise" plastered all over a building that, to my understanding, lies pretty much directly across the river from the railyards.

That hints at Arena news.

Still, the whole Convergence plan is tied up in the Cal Expo board, requires legislation, etc. There seems to be no way that we could be getting a "go" signal from it. So I don't know what to think.

That I would consider a major announcement if they had some sort of deal to get a new arena built. I know they are very focused on selling ticket packages and season tickets. They need to add to the buzz they already have going on roster upgrades. Next up is to make the fans feel like they have a long term answer to the arena issue. The Here We Rise slogan has a ring of synergy for the team on the rise and building a new home. I wouldn't consider a tall banner downtown showcasing two popular players enough for a major announcement.

I almost forget about this post. I'm guessing they will be announcing some sort of community project. So probably not worth getting too excited.

At a certain point you have to wonder what. They finally got the team turned around, have a star player to galvanize things, are returning to the promotional scene, have lowered ticket prices...at a certian point they've done their part.
