One thing he stressed is he thinks it's wrong Rick was let go.

Thinks highly of Muss (obviously) and he's glad to be here, but thinks Rick should have been given another chance (based on performance only). Not Rick's fault Webber got hurt or Kings missed shots.

Rest was idle chitchat about the Knicks (team put together all wrong and Marbury has had 11 coaches in 11 years - do the math), the draft (nothing in the interview worth noting - not a particularly strong draft), etc.

OK, I thought they said Brooks, but then they called him Doug. Who the heck were they talking to???

Okay, I'm thinking it's probably NOT a good idea for a new assistant coach to be second-guessing his big bosses on KHTK. The Maloofs reward loyalty. They do not, as far as I know, want their decision about Adelman to be brought up at this point, especially by "new recruits."

I'm very curious to know who it was they were interviewing. I might want to send him a bouquet of flowers or something before he leaves.

;)

Doug Scott?

Doug Brooks?

Doug Collins?

I can't see how Scott Brooks would say that stuff unless he has a political death wish, or a big prenegotiated severance package.

Doug Gottleib from ESPN

Ah...makes more sense. Somebody independent. I would agree with VF21 -- true or not would have been pretty ballsy of Scott Brooks to walk on in and critique the very move of his new over-bosses that got him hired.

yeah, THAT'S just what we need, an ASSISTANT coach calling out management. :D Good thing it was Gottleib. Interested to hear what Brooks says coming up, about the draft and stuff.

I just got home - sorry for the mixup - I was listening with the radio turned down low in the office and misheard the announcement about Brooks and though that's who was on.

20 floggings with a wet noodle, I guess. :)

I can't get KHTK but I bet I can predict Brooks' comments:

He's glad to be part of Musselman's team and he's really excited to be working for great owners like the Maloofs. He thinks the Sacramento fans are the best anywhere and he's really looking forward to working with Ron Artest and all the rest of the guys. He can't talk about Bonzi, of course, but he knows it's going to start getting exciting with the draft tomorrow and the free agency discussions opening up on July 1. He thinks Musselman is a great choice by the Maloofs. He knows how hard a worker Muss is and thinks they'll really be able to work well together.

Not much of anything relating to Basketball was said. It was a short interview, about 15 mins, most of it was the spent joking about family and coming back to the area- he's from Manteca.

Grant asked him how they plan on handling Artest, and is there any apprehension because of his "label". He said they'll embrace Artest's history and not run from it.

Well, duh. ;)

I meant besides all that.

well he better become friends with artest quick then.

I'm sure he knows Artest is ultimately the main guy here. :)

Unless we get KG, but he doesn't command a lot of shots, and is mainly a jumpshooter. Rest of his stuff is off lobs/putbacks/couple left-block post moves. Besides I think Artest would love to have him on the team. Most players would.
