Brian Skinner: I like him!

Hey! This guy can play! 4 blocks against the Grizz??? What the heck?

I was checking out sixersonline.net and reading some forums over there checking up on the Webber/O'Brien ordeal and the fans there keep mentioning Skinner. They are wondering why in the world didn't O'Brien use his qualities. Well, I don't think O'Brien is going to have a job much longer (but that is not what my thread is about anyway...)

I just wanna give some love to this guy, and may he ever prosper!!!

Thank you Skinner for coming in Sacramento, and even though some may have called you a scrub (not me) and said you were cow fodder - you showed so much differently.

THANK YOU!!
Here are a few quotes from the website I thought were interesting:

By drummer4001: "Iverson3daanswer...who do you think should replace obrien as the head coach? Im starting to figure that obrien isnt exactly great for the sixers either. Skinner is tearing it up with the kings....wtf obrien....explain that one."

by iverson3daanswer: "Every game the same question runs through my mind: what the hell is O'Brien doing? He has horrible substitution patterns, and doesn't seem to know how to use his players' strengths. I mean, look at what KT, Corliss, and Brian Skinner are doing in SacTown, and O'Brien is sitting here and doesn't know how to use CWebb."

I agree with those 76ers fans. jim o'brien is a horrible coach. his doesnt know how to have a play designed for webber on the court. just a bad coach ever.
sac kings have elite coaches that's for sure.

i think everyone can agree that we like Brian Skinner (thus far anyways)

as for the sixers fans...they don't know what to do with themselves right know...its killin them to see the players they traded away doing so well here in SacTown

i actually heard some kid say that he doesn't think all the sixers problems are CWebbs fault and that he's glad that CWebb is there cuz if he weren't nobody would ever notice (and by nobody he meant management) that JOB is not a good coach for that team

there aren't any Philly fans that are behind the guy

I've liked Skinner ever since he was on the Clippers. He was a big part of the Bucks playoff squad last season, doing the dirty work and the intangible things. When the Bucks let him go this summer, I was actually hoping the Kings could make a run for him, but I think he wanted to be in Philly (where he had already played for a season). O'Brien has been lost this year. Just look at how he's handled Dalembert. And he had sloppy, non-defense playing Marc Jackson starting for a while and getting minutes ahead of both Skinner and Dalembert.

Anyway, Skinner's success doesn't surprise me at all. I'm glad Adelman has confidence in him, he's a true pro whether he starts or comes off the bench.

he's been doing a nice job since coming to sacramento. i hope he can keep it up. i LOVE the shot blocking!!!!

I was concerned he was going to get buried ala Tag on the bench, but he's showed a better overall skillset than I remember, and the injury to Brad has really opened things up for him.

I don't think he keep up this shotblokcing pace though -- been in the league 7 years now and has never been THAT sort of shotblocker. A guy who gets his share and might just be able to get 1.5 to 2, but this 3/4 blks a game stuff is just way way above and beyond for him.

I think JOB is gonna L-O-S-E his J-O-B before the start of next season.

The only thing I notice about this forum is that I don't see a mention of how, while K9, King Tut, and Big Nasty are very good players, the kings system may exploit their skills in the best possible way.

People have discredited Rick Adelman over the years, but I've always thought he was a very good coach. There are times when I don't like what he's doing w/ something, but thats inevitable. Most of the time, my prob with him was not subing enough, but he's getting better and better at taht. I should also mention that I don't think there is a coach who could do a better job in the kings system and with these players in the league. The only guy who could contend with that train of thought is Larry Brown, but he's in Detroit and his dream job is NYK so..ya

Okay, and the new "Hijack a Thread" winner is ^^^^^.

;)

You not only got away from a discussion of Skinner, you made it into a who's better query about Adelman and Larry Brown...

Interesting.

:D

I simply love Skinner. He has been a breath of fresh air for us and I hope he continues at this rate. When Brad comes back I hope Skinner stays in the starting line up.

I think it's great for just about anyone! But, I'm still gonna take it and run!!

Everytime Skinner makes a play, I am shouting at the top of my lungs GO PHAROAH!!! For me that name works for Skinner. He is so fun to watch. It is new and exciting.

As long as the title of this thread is about unanimously agreed upon declarations, I'd like to add one of my own

Ice cream: It's delicious!

After all, I think we ALL like Brian Skinner. How could Jim O'Brien NOT find a spot in the rotation for this guy? Ridiculous.

Personally, I just like to yell, "SKINNNNNERRR!"

Same coach who had Dalembert benched at the beginning of the year too, and appears to still be in a snit because his ideal big man that he WANTED to pair with Iverson was Antoine Walker. Quite the system he's got there. Chuck and duck.

Ahem!

Another 4 shot blocking night by Skinner. What'a guy!! Wooohooo! (I do feel kinda bad for O-tag though. :( Why? I guess I'm just that kind of person.)

He helped out with some shooting too, wow! He stepped up on a night that Peja just couldn't. Props to you Pharoah!!

Was at the Game last night!!

I think Skinner got more crowd screams (louder too) and yells than anyone
on the team. Including my self!!

This was first game I Saw with the New Guys and I kept on
knudging my GF and yelling "SKINNER" then a few seconds later
"SEE SEE SKINNER AGAIN!" and of course my fav " I LOVE THIS GUY!"
(his game of course)

The whole crowd really responds to his hustle and effort and I think he feeds off it too.

When Miller gets back I think we have just about the best 1-2 Center tandem there is! Sure Shaq is better than either but love our Centers!!

Go Kings!!!!!!!

I haven't read this entire thread, so let me know if someone has already said this.

Skinner comes from a team (76's) with a ball hog superstar. I have nothing against AI, but admit it; Skinner (and any other player for that matter) gave the ball to AI and watched him go to work. Sacramento is the polarized extreme of that. We're known as a franchise (at least in the past 7 years) for unselfish play. It's like Wilt said "The best get the best out of you." Sure, the Kings may not be the best, but they sure are a lot better at passing the ball than anyone on the 76ers. I for one am not surprised at Skinner's break out. What was it that JSin once said? "In Petrie we trust"

i think skinner has been the best out of the 3 trades from philly. he has provided rebounds, points and blocks which has tightened up the defence

I honeslty supect Skinner is the most mature and probalby the smartest of the 3. He seems to have understood right from the start that this was a second chance to jusmp start his carrer and plays every game as if his future int he NBA depends on it... and he is right in many ways it does. No criticism of Kenny or Nasty, they are playing hard, and well but the fire that Skinner has does place him a notch above, despite arguably being the least tallented of the three.

despite my skepticism over the "big trade," as grant and jerry love to call it, i have to say, our 3 new guys have played well beyond expectations. thomas and williamson each had a few crucial mistakes in the clutch last night, but they more than made up for it with the way they played the entire game. (tho kenny does owe mike a beer for bailing him out).

and skinner.....well hot damn! this brother needs to stick around, especially if he's gonna be so efficient with the minutes he's given. i think we need to get a highlight reel of everything skinner's done for sacramento since he's come here, and mail it to jim o'brien.
