Brian Shaw and Robert Horry in Sacramento??

Just listening to the interview with Horry on sportsline and he is a great interview. He said how Pop doesnt care who u are he will call everyone an ******* and how Phil is a great coach to but he isnt a people person. He spoke about Brian Shaw too and said he is going to be a great coach and is a great basketball mind. He said he will play one more year and than wants to get into coaching and wouldn't mind being an assistant under Brian Shaw. Than Grant said I dont know if the fans would accept u here and Horry said Sacramento I was just doing my job and I would rather do my job and have people hate me than not do my job and not be able to support my family because I didn't do the job I was supposed to do. Grant also went on to say about how in 02 in game 4 after Horry hit that shot he decided to drive home with his family than take the team flight and he was so down and in such a bad mood he didnt say a word to his family the whole six hour drive home.

[Partially deleted due to my stupidity....] I'm at least intrigued by Shaw and have wondered why he hasn't had a second interview.

I once respected Robert Horry, despite the daggers he put into my heart. ALL of that respect left with the body check he put on Steve Nash. I'd rather see Shaq coach the Kings than Robert Horry... and I think most people around here can remember how much I care about Shaquille O'Neal.

I dunno -- its the Laimbeer effect again. Think of the advantages of having an assistant coach willing and able to body check the opponent's star player.

Laimbeers' fingerprints aren't on one of the daggers I still feel in my heart.

Yes, I hold a grudge. In fact in this case, I'm going to nurture that grudge and see that it grows strong and lives a long life. Horry can take a flying leap for all I care...

Hrm. Apparently I have a little more latent hostility left over than I realized.

;)

horry does what he has to do. thats the end of it. i hate him yet respect him for being so dam clutch. how does he do it? wow! sacramento needs players like him thats for sure. it would have been nice to have had someone like him instead of peja hitting the side of the backboard.

horrys cheap shot on nash i respect. i hate him for it again but if we were where they were and one of our bench players nailed kobe. or kinda like when peeler elbowed KG. i would have been down with that. although peeler was going to start the next game i think. and instead was suspended. again we got the bad end of the stick. i forget what happened then. i just know it was a big loss at the time. ?

sorry more bad memories being brought back right now. Horry is i stud with soon to be 7 RINGS! 7 ! sorry but i hate him. and respect him, he gets it done.

you lost respect because of that?
of all things, you lost respect because of the body check...
Spurs just lost a big lead and were all hot headed at the moment
Remember when Horry bit Stackhouse's elbow? I mean...who cares about the body check? I actually loved it even though I despise Horry. The NBA has turned into a ballet concert and some physicality wouldnt hurt

I really do not fault Horry for that. I actually buy the explanation he gave ESPN about that being a legit playoff foul that looked worse than it was since it was near the scorers table. Webber's hit on Stockton (which was one of our franchise's defining moments) was far worse than that. Baron Davis' foul in the Jazz series was worse too. Horry's hit probably wasn't one of the 3 worst this post-season. Is it unfortunate that it swung the momentum of that series? Definitley, I wanted the Suns to win. However, I do not feel that it was done with an intent to injure Nash. Horry made a smart veteran foul and the Suns let him ruin the series by rushing onto the court.

shoot...bring'em even if it's just for publicity. drama = good.

How interesting. Robert Horry, who has never coached a day in his life, would be acceptable to some of you?

Hrm...

Interesting.

I never once have said it was intentionally done to hurt Nash. I do, however, firmly believe (after watching it numerous times) Horry was frustrated and took it out on Nash with an intentional body check.

Fair enough, but still does not warrant discrediting the rest of his accomplishments. Maybe you cannot like Horry because of the dagger he gave to us, but this foul does not cheapen the rest of his career or accomplishments to me.

Bottom line is my lack of belief that he could be an adequate coach. The other stuff is just TDOS boredom speaking.

;)

Perhaps the Sacramento make-up has been too filled with close but not cigar types like Peja, Webber and Christie -- guys who feel little tingles in their shorts with the game on the line. Think Vlade would hit a late free-throw? Horry has no fear of failure and that could be great for a franchise that seems to have found a comfort zone in losing.

Horry lost his cool and bumped Nash out of bounds. Big deal. I'll bet much worse things happen in practice. He's certainly not the only player or coach who ever did it. Malone used to throw harder shots every time a guard went through the key. Barkley, too. Of course Shaq and Fox were the Princes of Filth. Horry is not in that category.

Horry could be just the kind of influence needed. A winner.

Ya he wouldnt be the head coach he would be an assistant under Brian Shaw if we hired Shaw. I think Horry will make a great coach because he has been through everything u can think of. He has been in the playoffs every year of his career and the guy is a flat out winner and knows how to win and could show our players how to win and what it takes to take that clutch shot.

That wasn't really that bad...the Suns blew it out of proportion. Yeah he put a lil extra into it, but so did Steve Nash, but that's NOTHING compared to things that occurred just a decade or two ago.

Kings fans support bringing Robert Horry aboard????

Take me now.... Oh good lahwdy, take me now!

I'm coming aunt Esther.

I just got on the Brian Shaw bandwagon. If Horry thinks that highly of him, I'd look at Shaw very closely. And I would LOVE to have Horry on the bench as an assistant. Forget about Xs and Os, he would be great for teaching players how mentally to approach big games. He's got experience with three different championship teams, he's been absolutely $$$$$ when it comes to big games, has a very high basketball IQ - what young player wouldn't want to be coached by this guy?
