Breaking News! Kings Ask For Permission To Speak With Jim O'brian!!!

I hope Rick stays. Larry Brown and Rick Carlisle are the only two coaches I think are better from a pure basketball standpoint. Maybe he's not Patton in the trenches, and maybe Phil Jackson could use his zen to infuse lateral movement into the Kings as a team, but as far as I'm concerned, Rick is as good a coach as there is in the NBA.

ED: Took me a moment of panic, but then I got it. I really am hoping RA is here next year. "Shake ups" may be necessary, but we are going through a major player shake up. RA being her may provide some sense of stability for for whoever is still here from the old core players. And I still hope Brad, Peja and Bibby are here next year. (Although I'll accept changes if forced to. ;) )

They have to ask permission, because technically Flip still works for the T'Wolves under contract. He was just removed as coach.

LMAO. I get what he's saying though. I don't understand why a franchise has to call the franchise of the fired coach to ask is it OK if they scoop him up.

it certainly does seem odd. unless, of course, they consider the t-wolves to be like the acquaintance who just dumped his girlfriend, and wanted to ask his permission to date her.
 
They didn't fire him. He's still under contract to them. Just not the coach anymore. A fine technical point, I know, but it is what it is.

Hmm I was racking my noggin wondering who was Jim O'Brian but then I realized you meant Jim O'Brien. I thought there might of been another I didn't know about.;)
