Brad and the U.S. Team.

I was really excited when I heard that Brad was going to be on the team. It would mean he would come into camp in shape and ready for the season. Then I heard that he was looking thinner and moving much quicker.

Well I was watching the U.S. vs. Australia and Brad was hitting his outside shots and running the court pretty well. Defensively he was getting smoked by Bogut. Yes. I said Bogut. Bogut was just blowing by him. Thank god the U.S. team had Brand watching his back otherwise Bogut would have dropped 40 on him.

I think Brad is a good player but this goes to show that we are going to need help down low with Brad in the game.

agreed. his lateral movement hasn't change, he's getting beaten by his man rather easily. and also, he looks less toned.

It beats riding quads for the summer, but Brad really hasn't played that much for the NT. And his deficiencies are, well his deficiencies. It was always kind of silly somehow trying to claim that Rick stole his lateral movement and hops. Does a lot of things well and I actually thought the NT could make more use of his skills before the summer began. But he's a considerably flawed player no matter who the coach or what the system. Unfortunately we just did not acquire the guy to pair him with to try to cover those things up.

Hey I LIKE the fact taht Brads min are limited. Minimizes the risk of something happening. BUT Kings benifit from him woking out, and PRACTICING with great NBA tallent. I call it a win.

Brad has looked pretty good if you ask me.

Bogut "smoked" Brand quite a bit too. He must suck or something. All in all if Brad plays the kind of D he is playing in Japan, it will help us out quite a bit.

His confidence at the end of the season seemed to be at an all-time low. I can't tell whether or not his confidence is improving by being on the NT, but he does look like the same guy that we saw wearing #52 in the Kings' last game. Thinner, but he didn't seem to be any lighter on his feet.

I think it might be easier to make a Dwight Howard Muscle Suit and mask to put on Brad and send him to Orlando while we take the real Howard.

Brad isn't getting the PT I would have liked to see. However, he still has to practice, he's still away with nothing to do but play basketball. That beats going back to Indiana and hunting all day. Perhaps Brads performance in the playoffs, Adelmans comments (Brad out of shape) and him being on team USA we will see an improvement next season. But don't ever expect Brad to be a great defender, it's time we just accepted his weaknesses.

Unfortunately we just did not acquire the guy to pair him with to try to cover those things up.

This is the key point in this thread.

Brad, like almost any NBA player, has his deficiencies and his strengths. Had we gotten that athletic big to pair with him, it would have made his 7-foot frame that much more effective on defense, even though D is not his strong suit.

How hard is it to shuffle your feet a couple inches and swat or something? Even Vlade did it? Geez. Take a charge, but don't just stand there and do nothing.

Is Brad afraid of contact?

I think we see a bunch of Brad in the USA game vs. Greece. They play a tough, slow down zone and the USA guys have been terrible on their 3's. Brad on the other hand has the best 3% of the lot.

There are Quarter horses, Race horses, and draft horses. Draft horses are big and strong, and unfortunately, slow. I'm afraid Brad is one of those. He will never be a good defender. He's decent when he only has to defend his own man, but when he has to be the help defender as well and has Bibby as his point, who constantly gets beat off the dribble. Well, he sometimes looks completely confused and frustrated. Do I think he could do a little better than he does? Yes. Will He? Who the hell knows.

The truth is, if Bibby, now lighter and quicker can stay in front of his man better, than Brad will suddenly look a lot better on defense.

Its a lot like football. Its amazing how the defensive backfield gets better when the defensive line starts putting pressure on the QB.

One upside for the players is that they're not mobbed everywhere they go. Miller and Hinrich went to a baseball game -- baseball being the Japanese national pastime -- and no one recognized them.

Miller says the biggest hassle was the corridors -- so low that even the 6-foot-3 Hinrich had to duck to walk through them. As for the other Japanese pastime, Miller had this review: "I like the Kirin, but the Sapporo's kind of, you know, sour. Like the bitter beer face."

Brad Miller

He has said several times that he played like s--t at the end of the season and he did. We went to the game in Las Vegas Aug. 3rd when USA played Puerto Rico. He has lost about 18-20 pounds, is in very good shape, doesn't clump-clump down the court but actually runs and played well in this game. We watched them all, the FIBA games, and when he played, he played okay. We say he is a King and we support this team and hope he has a good year!

I dont really know why, but Brad seemed to get the least playing time out of anyone on the team. The truth is that it just doesn't make sense when you think about how well-suited Brad is to the international game.
