Boycott the NBA

These guys aren't getting another dime from me, including from my eyes watching the playoffs.

It sucks but I don't think I can watch another game until the Kings make a firm commitment to stay in the city. I've had league pass for the last few years and went to at least 2-3 games per year, on top of jerseys, food, and other peripheral money the league has gotten from me.

I'm done with this league. They tore the heart out of Seattle and now they're doing it to Sacramento, even after the city bent over backwards to keep them in town. No playoffs, no sports bars, no nba.com. Let these clowns take other chumps money, I'm out.

That's your call, but I really don't see this as the NBA's fault. Looks to me like the NBA is doing everything they can to keep the Kings in Sacramento and help build a downtown arena. Promising to kick in $7M and loan the Maloofs the remainder of their upfront costs? That's not lip service. Problem is, they're saddled with rogue saboteurs for owners, and they don't have the legal ability to force them to sell.

I'm confident they're doing what they can behind the scenes, but the league is kind of hamstrung here. I don't blame them.

I see two glaring problems with your comments.
In the second paragraph, you start off by saying you can't watch any games until the KINGS make a firm commitment to stay in the city.
In the last paragraph, you say the league is tearing the heart out of Sacramento just like they did Seattle.

My question to you is, which is it? KINGS or LEAGUE?????

IMO, I really honestly can't see why anyone would blame an institution (NBA) who offers to help with the funding of a new arena....This one's pretty much all on the Maloofs (George to be exact)...

I agree with the above comments.

My enmity is solely directed at the Maloofs. The league itself and David Stern went above and beyond trying to make this arena deal work.

Right now, the Maloofs are lucky they are no where near me.

I have loved basketball all my life and followed my favorite teams (first the Celtics and then the Kings) since 1965. The Maloofs may have taken away my dream to see the Kings play in a brand-new arena in Sacramento but I'll be damned if they'll take away the game I've loved for almost 50 years. I am perfectly capable of continuing my love of the Kings while detesting the people who own them.

I just had a chance to look at Brick's last game grades and the videos of the players. I know that buying tickets to games, means money goes to the Maloofs. However, I will still go to games next year ( a few is all I can afford).

Why? Because I love my team and they are still here for now. I don't go to the games to cheer for the Maloofs or because I give a damn about them. I go to support those players out there, who play for Sacramento. I'm not going to punish the players, because of the bad deeds, bad faith and cheapness of their owners.

No I will go and cheer loudly for the guys that represent my home town. Urge them to play their best for us. Let them know I appreciate them and want them to win as much as possible, just like they want to do.

I'm kennadog and I'm not a Maloof fan, I'm a Sacramento Kings fan.

Agreed.

I am, like VF21, going to avoid any non-Kings event at ARCO to avoid lining the Maloof pockets. I will still support the team though. I do NOT want MSE to be able to point to sagging attendance as a reason to move. No more merchandise or food at the arena either. And if you can park in non-arena parking lots and walk, so much the better. I want the games sold out but MSE to bleed money to the point they have to sell.

Great posts. Agree all the way. The NBA came up with the Cal Expo plan, backed the convergence plan and was willing to fund up front money for the latest "deal". Outside of employing a ref who MAY have had an anti King agenda a decade ago, the league has been a great partner of the city of Sacramento for over a quarter century.

This is a very good idea. Make the team into liability for the Maloofs while maintaining attendance.
