RealGM - A league source told RealGM’s Christopher Reina late Tuesday night that Calvin Booth has reached an agreement on a two-year contract to join the Washington Wizards . The second year of the deal is a player option.

He will travel to Washington later this week to officially sign the contract.

Booth was waived by the Bucks in August and was designated their amnesty victim.

The 6-11 center was drafted in the second round by the Wizards in 1999 and then went on to do two tours with the Mavericks that surrounded a three-year stint in Seattle.

Booth was also being pursued by the Clippers and Cavaliers.

Well, pretty good signing for them, they needed more size. As for us getting him, he wouldn't be near the top, only if we had little options left.

Booth isn't someone I would of put high on the list for available centers... much better out there. His games played history is kinda scary, plus his rebounds (probably from injuries/trades/limited minutes/his weight too). Seems like a pretty good shot blocker though.

maybe his stats dont show it well, but he averaged less than 1 bpg last year, and only averaged more than one once in the last four years.....*is spectacle*

I doubt Booth is going to kill their season... infact, it's a strange statement. They still have a good team that should be competitive. If anything, Booth is for depth/size/shot blocking.

Well, I've honestly never seen too much of him, mainly going by what I've read of him.

I think his stats don't really show it though. Mainly because of last season, which was not that good, like just about all of his others. Where as 03-04 was his best season, and had a career high 10 blocks, while averaging 1.42bpg in 17mpg.

Booth is terrible. Seattle pinned their hopes on him a few years back based on some decent games and he sorely disappointed them. I'd rather have Jamal Sampson than Booth.

And with the Spurs signing Van Exel and Finley, they have also secured a berth in the draft. The Kings signing Abdur Rahim and Wells we've also secured a berth in the draft.

I understand what you mean, but you did mean lottery instead of draft, right?

Even if you did mean lottery, I still don't think signing a second string center, possibly third string center will affect them that much...

It's comparable to the Kings signing Ronnie Price secured the Kings to miss the playoffs despite any other changes made.

He isn't a total stiff, but has zero upside, what you see is what you get. He has EXTREMELY long arms, and that helps him with his blocking. He may block some shots but he is far from a defensive specialist. He has some of the slowest feet I have ever seen. To put it into perspective, Chris Webber can drive past him with the greatest of ease. He has a fairly good jumpshot and has marginal BBall IQ. He can pass a little bit too, so, as I said, he may fit in with what the Wiz need.

Thast's mroe or less the couoting report, and actualyl why he would have fit the system here as well. But he's terminally soft and limited, so probably just as well he does not. We're really taking a Kings sized risk though with only one proven center on the roster, who's injury prone, an injury prone 6'9" PF as a backup, and then a guy who's been cut three times in three years, including by an expansion team, as the #3 guy. Maybe it works out. But it could go also go south on us in a hurry.
