I don't know about anyone else, but I think I found my "warrior King."

WOW!

Thank you, Geoff Petrie, for bringing him to us and...

Thank you, Bonzi Wells, for having heart, determination, toughness, and a will to play that takes my breath away.

God, I love this team and I love this game!

:D
Gushing just a bit, VF? :p Seriously, I agree about Bonzi. Tough, gritty... flat out competitive. And as far as his challenge/incident with Peja goes, I'm really quite ok with it. Arguably, Adelman should be the one to challenge Peja about playing, but Bonzi makes no bones about his feelings.

This is Leadership.

Go KINGS!

Bobby Jackson was my favorite Sacramento King, not because he could shoot 3's, but because he was a 100% effort, scrappy, full of heart player for every minute that he was on the floor. He was a spark off the bench because he got other players to "pick up" their game.

Bonzi Wells exhibits the same 100% effort, scrappy, full of heart behavior. He too will get the other players to play with more energy and heart. So, it is no wonder that he is now my favorite Sacramento King.

Edit: Oh, and both players are blunt and tell it like it is.

I apparently haven't been watching the same games as you because I think he has been awful from mid-range. His shot looks ugly and flat, it doesn't even look like it has a chance to go in.

Yeah, I said he hasn't been too much on offense yet.

Where have you seen him prove that he can shoot? I don't think he has ever shown an ability to shoot,
With Charlotte last year.

but hopefully he can become as good as you already think he is and give him credit for.;)[/B]
Well, that's an exaggeration, with the Kings so far. Right now for the most part, I love his defense. I just expect his offense to come as the season goes on, given he's with a new team and is just 12 games in. Like 6-10 pts off the bench.

I'm glad there's this thread for Bonzi because he deserve it! He's been playing great. I don't really like his ball handling skills but he always go out there and play hard every game. There hasn't been one game where he never tries hard. He's also becoming one of my favorite Kings! I love watching him play because he always play 110%!

GO BONZI! GO KINGS!!!

When I heard about trading for Bonzi Wells, I was pretty happy about it, because I always though of him as an above average defender and an all around good basketball player, and much less of a one-on-one player, like what we had last year at SG in Mobley. But, when I found out we had lost Bobby J in the trade, I was pretty much the opposite. Upset, angry at Petrie, etc. If Geoff had to trade my favorite player away, I'm glad he could get back a player as good as Wells, and I'm glad he could do it for a player who is now my favorite on the Kings.

I really like what Bonzi Wells has brought to the Kings. Hustle, toughness, and a little attitude. What I also like about these is that they tend to be contageous.

I recall a post from a member back in preseason (regarding a clip on the KIngs Real Training Camp show) about Bonzi acting like a Thug or a Punk (or similar) for roughing up Cisco in practice. Bonzi even said on camera that he was doing it to help get Cisco ready for the NBA game. The guy brings it every day, even in practice. He sprained his middle finger during the Houston game, but has continued to play. Obviously we've had a very slow start, but the past five games have shown a lot of improvement, particularly in the effort shown. If we can keep the improved effort going, we will definitely make some noise during the marathon that is the NBA season.

I'm very pleased with Bonzi as a King!:D

1. I didn't realize just how strong he was or how big he played. Someone pointed out once that Evans was the same size, but IMO its not even close.

2. I thought he was a better shooter.

3. His mouth run amoketh. Whatever comment he made regarding Peja's injury (if he made one) was unwarranted 10 games into the season. Frankly, I sympathize with the difficulty of a guy who's only value is catching and shooting playing basketball with a messed pinky.

4. Teammates respect him.

I also was dissapointed with Bonzi's jump shooting, seems like he would jump in there get a rebound then shoot s short or mid-range jumper just for it to clang off the Iron

But then I heard about his middle finger being injured for several weeks now. It made a lot more sense why his jumper was struggling, but he was still going at 120% at all other parts of his game. WOW did my perception of Bonzi change! he seemed to attack the rim resulting in even more dunks and layups, being a rebounding machine all while with pain in his finger every time he touched the ball. What a Stud!! Go Bonzi!!!!!

Now we just have to bottle what ever Bonzi's got and dump it in the Gatorade jug for the rest of the team to get. Maybe turn it into a Red Bull/ Gatorade coctail

Bonzi's certainly been a sight for sore Kings' fans' eyes from a heart and hustle perspective. Not to say that there haven't been players like him before, but those players that I'm thinking of no longer wear the Kings' purple. He's never been a shooter, but a scorer. I didn't realize that he was such a solid rebounder, but he uses his size and strength to his advantage on both ends of the floor.

I'll say this about Bonzi: His eagerness to clean up his image off the court and his hustle on the court, bode very well for the Kings. A cynic would say that Bonzi has to do both thing and do it better then ever in his contract year, but I don't really care what makes him thick these days. Just keep doing what you're doing Bonz and all will be well!
