Bone Bruise

For those that have had a serious bone bruise (a contusion) they know how debilitating it can be. Bones are slow to heal and only time will tell.

feels bad man. Got a knee to the side of my knee once, could barely stand for a few days and took a couple months to not feel like it was gonna give out.

I'm glad people are getting informed about what Reke is going through. He's getting way too much flak for not "sucking it up" and playing through pain.

I agree. Players want to play so if he is missing games it is because he can't go.

Not just that. It's his contract year. It wouldn't look good if he was milking his injury. No one will pay him what he thinks he deserves if he was milking it.

I don't think anyone has ever questioned Tyreke's toughness, just his ability to stay on the court. Many people willingly dismiss all the games he has missed in his early career.

I did not know this. I for one can admit that I was wrong for expecting him to play sooner. I never thought he was using it for trade bait or anything. I did question his toughness.

"Bone bruise" just sounds normal. Maybe if they called it bone contusion it would sound more menacing.

Reading the article, it explains the swelling I'm hearing he gets after any workout he's been having lately. Man, I feel bad for him. He was playing so well before he got hurt.

I had a very serious bone bruise when I played baseball in my upper leg near my hip. I didn't wait long enough for it to heal, and reinjuried it. Bottom line, is that it took almost 4 months for it to totally heal. Of course it all depends on the severity of the bruise, and where its located. I can't think of a worse spot than the knee. And if you baby it too much, then when scar tissure starts to form, it can hinder the movement of the knee to some degree.

At this point, I really don't believe he has a bone bruise. He has missed way too many games for it to just be a bone bruise, something has go to give here and we for some reason....are not hearing about it.

Why would they hide anything? If there was a more serious issue they would find it, disclose it, and treat it accordingly. Sometimes people have a lot of pain that doesn't necessarily show up through imaging and other tests. A serious bone bruise would fit in this category.

I suspect the brother is right and it is jumper's knee (patellar tendonitis). I'm glad he is getting a second opinion.

In my following the NBA, I've noticed that when it's announced that player X has a bone bruise in their knee, that player often ends up requiring arthroscopic and/or microfracture surgery. It's not a good sign, IMO, but for the sake of the team, I hope it shapes up...

Eep.. I have had a few of those a while back. Actually used to get them quite a bit in my shin when riding MTN bikes. My foot would come unclipped in a downhill ride or slalom and the petal would kick back up into my shin with force. I have had that happen a lot too when I was riding my BMX and racing, those petals were more unforgiving, but larger so it was spread out more.

You should feel my shins now :) They are all bumpy and scarred on both sides.

Same with my left one, different reason. Had a big tennis serve and really snapped the follow through. Would bang the hell out of my left shin on every spin serve in particular. By the end of a match I'd have blood running down my leg. Lot of pink socks during those years. Actually pondred wearing a shinguard.

And yes, hurts a lot. Never tried the knee version.

Yikes.. Yah shin ones hurt, especially if you are running around a lot. They feel almost like a severe case of shinsplints.

I assume Evans can get around OK but the whole running and jumping is what would do him in. They take forever to heal too.
