Bonds is Out in San Francisco

Good!

I remember how excited I was when the Giants signed him in 93... I was 14 years old and hysterical when I saw the signing going across the ESPN ticker.

It's time to move on. It's been time for a few years now.

This may really signal the end of Bonds career in real baseball. He has gone from one of teh best fielders in the game to a defensive liablity so I suspect he will stop playing real baseball and will end up in the AL as a semi-perminet DH ala Giambi.

Giants owner Peter M. in his rambling news conf today said he was "somewhat sad" about letting Barry go, talking about the good and bad times. I'm sure he's not somewhat sad about not renewing the aging stars $20 mil annual contract - freeing those big $ for other players. I predict Bonds goes to the Angels as a DH for one last fling at a W.S. championship - at around $6-$7 mil. Then again, if he can't get even that much maybe he just hangs 'em up.

Yeah, I think Bonds goes to Anaheim....he has a house in Beverly Hills and he needs to play in the AL where he can DH like 2 more years to get to 800 HR's. I pretty much hate everything dealing with Socal sports teams...especially Anaheim, but it's a good fit for Barry. Now could this change if one Mr. Brian Cashman or Theo Epstein give him a call...you're damn right it would change.;)

I knew this was coming and I think he can DH for a few years so its good all around, I wish he'd retire a Giant but its hard to ask that if he still wants to play and its certainly not good for the Giants to keep him around.

As long as he doesn't go to the Yanks its all good. Can't see him in Boston since Big Papi is entrenched at the DH spot especially with Youk at first.

I'm sure when Bonds signals that he's retiring - Giants will trade him back and let him play (or not) one game and then he retires as Giants. That's what I think they'll do.
