The Game Thread Dude
Oh, okay. Well, since you said "MARK MY WORDS" I'll have to take your word for it.
He didn't just say it, he wrote it in ALL CAPS which means he really really means it.

29 in 27 minutes.....very excited to see this guy come over eventuallyInteresting pre-olympic game last friday between Serbia and France.
Tony Parker didn't play as he just became a father for the second time but France NT is still full of active/former NBA players: Batum, Gobert, Diaw, Lauverge, De Colo, Gelabale.
Serbia easily won 105-88 and Bogdanovic dominated: 29pts with 5/10 on 3 pts.

BOLD PREDICTION
Sadly I am assuming his game wont transition to the potential all of us Kings Fans want it to be. Solid Player but I cant help but think when he plays against elite players at his position. I was very angry about trading our pick. We would've been better with keeping "Chriss" at #8, MARK MY WORDS.
Really excited for Bogdan, but like others, I am skeptical of how his defense will translate. He's a poor athlete which sucks. If he was elite, there would be no question of him becoming the next big thing from Europe. Makes you question whether or not half of his offensive game will be able to translate since he's not a good athlete.
I feel like his lateral just isn't quick enough. However, Klay Thompson doesn't have a quick lateral either, but he's a better athlete that Bogdan. I don't think he'll be able to use his IQ and savyness like he does in Europe to get his way to the basket. His ball handling is about average, I'd compare it to Casspi in the sense of how it's a bit too high at times, and he can't fully control it yet.
I think his floor is a 3pt shooting specialist with passable D. I won't mind that floor.
I'm not going to wear homer glasses for Bogdanovic just because he'll be a King. I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out his deficiencies because they are there. I too, have watched a lot of Bogdanovic. I don't think he's a good athlete, or even a solid one. He lacks explosiveness and a quick first step. His lateral quickness leaves the most to be desired. You know, you always make these statements and I wonder just where you get your information. I've watched ton's of tape on Bogdanovic, and nothing I saw would tell me he's a poor athlete. I certainly wouldn't say he's an elite athlete, but so what? By the way, the knock on Klay Thompson was that he was just an average athlete, and he proved to be a better athlete than anyone thought. Right now, Bogdanovic is considered one of the best players in Europe, if not the best player. And yet, we feel the need to throw cold water on his potential. Why, just to have something to talk about?
Having good lateral quickness is great, but McLemore has it, and how did that work out for him? Having great defensive instincts trumps just about everything else. Aaron Craft is just an average athlete, but he can guard any PG in the league. Why don't we wait and see how he turns out. By the way, I love how you start out saying your excited for him, and then proceed to give us every reason in the book why we shouldn't be excited about him. Well done!
I'm getting recklessly optimistic about this Bogdan fellow
Too bad he won't be coming over next year.
Hyping players and writing players off before they play an NBA minute is common not only on this board but with fans in general. But I can say that once he arrives, it won't take much for him to surpass Ben in production.I am Bogdan's fan and have been since his under 16s basketball back in Serbia by the hype around the kid on this board is getting out of hand.
He is a good solid NBA player who will be productive but some people are carrying on like he is the sort of talent that is going to be Boogie's wingman for years to come. I highly doubt that will be the case. He is no Manu but he is a good player.
Chriss is going to be a BEAST, I love Skal though.Agree to disagreeBogdan looks better than anyone out of the top 6 in this year's draft so I am quite happy with the move. I wasn't stoked with the Papa pick, but I love the idea and am more the happy getting Skal and Bogdan out of this move. BOLDER PREDICTION: Skal will be a significantly better pro than Chriss.

I too, have watched a lot of Bogdanovic. I don't think he's a good athlete, or even a solid one. He lacks explosiveness and a quick first step. His lateral quickness leaves the most to be desired.
It's like saying we should just ignore the fact that Papagiannis lacks NBA conditioning and has trouble at 7'2 270+lb trying to back down summer league bigs, or the fact that his rebounding is poor for a man of his size. Or maybe the fact that his offensive scoring is a bit suspect. These are things Papa will need to work and improve on.
I think all of the above is fair criticism of Bogdanovic. I wasn't trying to start my own Anti-Bogdanovic clan. I was just adding discussion to what others said above about how his game may or may not translate to the pros. These are real concerns. Bogdanovic is a player who excels with the ball in his hands. Question: is he a good enough ball handler to do half of the things he does in Europe, in the NBA? Is his lateral quick enough to get by NBA defenders? Can he finish over NBA bigs? I think these are valid concerns for any prospect, but more so Bogdanovic because he's not a good athlete in total. Doesn't have a very good lift off the ground. Not really explosive around the rim. Doesn't have a quick 1st step. Doesn't leap very far off the floor. His steps don't cover much space. Etc.
It's the offseason where I'd rather be talking about a future King's potential than havoc going on with our front office.
Anyone know when Serbia plays? With multiple channels of Olympics going on, I'd like to follow Bog a bit.

The only way this trade screws us is if Criss becomes an all star and none of our players become starters or high minutes quality players. To me, that does not seem likely. How many teams have drafted three players in the first round and none became at minimum starters.
Chriss is better than anyone listed on there. Thank god we got rid of Belinelli. Again, I have yet to see any report, proof etc Bogdan will ever play for the Kings, until then I don't even discuss him in our team. Richardson is solid and will contribute. I like the Skal pick as he is a project but still at 28 you can't blame the risk. Papa ugh.The Bogdan trade appears to be a sneakily great move by Vlade. To break down the two trades combined:
Outgoing:
Criss
Belinelli
Incoming:
Bogdanovic
Richardson
Labissiere
Papigiannis

That looks like a good move already. If Bogdanovic is as good as he appears it will be a trade we speak of for years.
Well, there was that Sacramento Kings draft of Travis Mays, Duane Causwell and Anthony Bonner.
But don't remind me.![]()

You and anyone else really have no idea if Chriss is better than anyone drafted after him. He's so raw there is no telling. I personally have some doubts about him and how effective he will be but like I said earlier, can't tell. Until they tart playing regular gamesChriss is better than anyone listed on there. Thanks everyone for the time....I see that Direct TV is carrying on the basketball channel which is 205-2. I'm sure DIsH and other carriers must have those extra expanded Olympics coverage. NBA thread is where I'll post some updatesSerbia plays Venezuela at 6:30 PM PDT today. But it doesn't look like it's on any of the TV channels, so you would have to stream it.
By the way, if you have a cable subscription and a device that allows you to stream NBC Sports (AppleTV does, I assume stuff like Roku, etc. do as well) the coverage is in high-def and pretty much wire-to-wire with some commercial breaks for everything. Prelims, heats, every table tennis match...as far as I can tell it's everything.
