I hope the commissioner denies their request and forces them to sell! In Burkle we trust.

George Maloof said they could still move #sackings to Anaheim in time for next season.

#Maloofs said buyout offer is "just talk" and "hogwash", said they've never been approached.

#Maloofs said #nba commissioner David #Stern would have more to say soon about extending deadline.

#Maloofs just came out of hotel, very upset about idea of selling #sackings.

Gavin #Maloof: "Tell Ron Burkle to go back to where he came from. We're not selling
Yep.

And on July 24, 2010 (less than nine months ago), Ailene Voisin asked them about relocation:

Because of the arena uncertainty, it's no secret your family routinely is approached by groups attempting to lure franchises to Seattle, Kansas City, Las Vegas, San Diego.
Joe's response?

We don't want to hear about those people. Who are these people, anyway? I think they just want to get their names in the paper. We want to hear about getting our team better and getting people back in the building. Now, it's a fact of life that cities that don't have NBA teams go after them. There are only 30 franchises; they're jewels. But we're not interested. We have a team and a wonderful community, and we're committed to turning it all around in Sac.
How's that response looking now, Joe? Were you negotiating with Anaheim at that very time?

Insist you won't sell, insist you won't trade as much as you want. Your word means nothing. Maybe you won't, but maybe you will. Just don't waste my time with your white noise, Joe. (Applies to Gavin and George, too.)

All indications are Maloofs will ask for the extension Monday. That doesn't mean months -- they could ask for another week to assess.

(cont.) NBA cannot go indefinitely -- needs to know where franchise will be next season ... if there is a next season.

Now that we've been spoiled with the thought of potentially having a billionaire owner I dislike the Maloofs even more.

riseguys a reporting the kings want to have another extension because you don't have enough votes right now
That is excellent news. At this point, the longer it goes on, the better. It's not going to be a slam dunk for them.

I heard this morning that the Maloofs are going to present to the NBA that they aren't in dire financial shape. That tells you right off the bat that the perception among NBA owners is that they are in dire financial shape. And how in the world can persuade the NBA that they aren't in dire financial shape when they've defaulted on a $400 million line of credit for the Palms? And when they are in negotiations to lose their controlling interest in the Palms?

The Maloofs need 15 votes plus their own for total of 16 yes votes. I bet in canvassing the other NBA franchise owners they've now found less than what they need. Probably the majority have told them they are on the fence or solid no votes. The ones on the fence could also just obstain, meaning getting to the number they need could be very difficult - at least as this point.

Yeah I'm on the fence... but if Tyreke suddenly gets traded to my team I could get off that fence!

Hope Stern says no extension. Maloofs had their chance now sell or else.
At some point, enough is a enough. They should have had all their ducks in order by now. They were already granted one extension, now with this knowledge of Billionaire Burkle saying, yes it CAN work in Sacramento after the Maloofs are essentially saying no it can, thats why we need to move, Stern needs to step and say no, try again next year.

markkreidler:
CBS 13's Steve Large: Maloofs clearly frustrated by Ron Burkle's emergence. One of them said Burkle can "go back where he came from."

Fighting words, this is getting good.

I hope it will offend Burkle and give him more motivation to fight the Brothers ..

Exactly. Stern seems like a stern guy (pun somewhat intended). I can't imagine him giving the Maloof's even more rope now that they've already had their chance to make their case.

I am really starting to wonder how bad off the Maloofs are financially. They seem almost desperate to move the team by next season. If they don't move, they may be forced to sell. Slowly but surely powerful groups are turning against the Maloofs. Right now they are essentially battling KJ, the State Government, the City of Sacto and its team of lawyers, a billionaire with much deeper pockets than them, the BOG, and potentially David Stern. I really doubt they were expecting this much resistance to the move from so many places.

It's my thought that owners back up other owners to maintain their connections. For example, the Maloofs are connected well enough in politics to have Tyreke have a dinner with Obama last year. The owners like to keep those connections. The thing that Burkle also offers though is those same political connections and more. He is friends with Bill and Hillary Clinton and Al Gore. When owners back up other owners, what they're really doing is backing up themselves. And Burkle offers a lot more to the NBA than the Maloofs presently do since they've sold their distributorship and are losing their stakes in the casino as well.
The Maloofs are also battling Buss. They only reason to ask for an extension is to see if they can poke holes in the Burkle/Icon/Taylor plan. Which is why it was brilliant for KJ to keep this under the radar until the actual meeting. The Maloofs are stubborn and are going to try to fight this to the end. Will burn all their bridges in Sac in the process.

I guess the Maloofs have less supporters in Sac right now ......
IF all of this statment is true, they are :
News10_CA News10 - California

Maloofs say that the team is not for sale for any price. Also stated that Sacramento would not get another team if the Kings move.

Who are THEY to say this???? Yes, I realize they are owners and have vote, but you don't say these types of things!

I'm moving to the point of "sell" or "Maloofs, get the hell out of my city". Selling is way better, but the damage the have done to me as a fan and the city is significant.

Also, if the NBA leaves the city of Sacramento and its fanbase hanging even further by granting another extension, they may also lose me as a costumer. Probably, for good.

If they didn't at least know it was a possibility then they aren't too bright. I mean not only is what they're trying to do unprecedented but it involves them stepping on the toes of the league's most prestigious team to do it.
