Ailene just creamed herself.

What Laimbeer may have finally realized is that he's not going to be able to parlay a WNBA head coaching job directly into an NBA head coaching job, if that's indeed what he is looking for. No idea if he's headed our way or not, but he's going to need to come to the NBA and pay his dues with SOEMBODY here before he becomes a major coaching candidate.

Great picture! He could certainly bring some toughness and defense to the team.
And, while he's generally remembered as one of the dirtiest players in NBA history, he was also Vlade's match for flopping like a fish turned soccer player.

In ESPN's list of the top 10 all-time floppers, Vlade has to settle for #2...
1. Bill Laimbeer
A cornerstone of the famed "Bad Boys" championship teams in Detroit, Laimbeer was vilified around the league for his aggressive play, head games and the trademark "Laimbeer flop." He was the most hated player in the league during his heyday. Legendary Celtics broadcaster Johnny Most dubbed him, simply, "The Flopper."

A sampling of memorable Laimbeer moments:

• Accused by Chris Webber on Nov. 28, 1993 of flopping on a rebound attempt 70 seconds into the game, then sticking his leg out and causing Webber to sprain his ankle and leave the game -- the only scoreless regular-season appearance of Webber's career.

• The Mavericks reportedly once used clips of Laimbeer flops as an instructional tool.

• Accused by Portland's Kevin Duckworth of flopping throughout the 1990 NBA Finals.

• His flopping performances in nearly every playoff matchup against Robert Parish and the Celtics in the mid-to-late 1980s are legendary.

During the 1989 Eastern Conference finals against Chicago, Laimbeer somewhat acknowledged his use of flopping but said he had moved on.

"You can't pin that on me now," Laimbeer told the Washington Post. "You don't hear about me flopping. Now I'm just a dirty player. What happened was, instead of me falling back and trying to draw the foul, I just started hitting people. It's not malicious or dirty, it's just that now there's a collision instead of me falling."

If we hire him, let's not have him interact with the refs. :D

Other than his floppiness, player meaness and WNBA stint what would he bring to the Kings Kids? Is he a viable candidate for Westphals staff? I have no preconceived notion. But he did win two WNBA titles so he must be doing something right.

Update: make that 3 titles. To his credit, he took over a WNBA team that was really pretty awful, and led them to 3 championships in 6 years. Whether any of that translates into the NBA is anyone's guess.

If he brings just the meaness, he'll be worth it!:D

I would love Lambier as an assistant coach. The guy has won NBA and WNBA titles and was a tough and smart player. His toughness along would be great if it rubbed off on Hawes and JT. Give our young bigs a little nasty streak.

The only weird thing would be if we brought in Lambier and that NBDL coach that was rumored a few days ago. That would mean at least 3/4 of our coaches on the bench would not have had any experience sitting on a NBA bench as a head coach or assistant coach in the last few years.

If the 4th is Elie or Porter, we'd be ok.
