Biggest bust from this draft

I figured it might be different to talk about who we thought would be the biggest bust from this draft. Will it be the cant miss guy in wall? Or somebody else. My guess, Ed Davis from UNC.

If I had to rank them I would probably go with (from most to least likely)

1. Aminu
2. Davis
3. Babbit
4. Udoh
5. Patterson

But if I were to pick my biggest draft surprises (from most to least likely)

1. Patterson
2. Aldrich
3. George
4. Monroe
5. Udoh

I am only doing guys projected lottery BTW.. Past lottery it's kind of a crap shoot and you can't really call them busts.

Gordan Hayward. No doubt about it. How is this guy a lottery pick?! I dont understand. How is he any better than lets say...John Scheyer? He can make spot up college 3 pointers. Wow. Someone please educate me if im missing something.

I'd say Greg Monroe. Al-Farouq probably won't live up to the expectations his draft number imposes on him, but I think he can become a fine role player.

I think Gordon Hayward is fine--his jumper's solid enough, and he's a better athlete than given credit for. The fact that he plays a mutual exclusion offensive game will only help him as well. He's a good team player, and I think he can even be solid defensively in this league.

Orton might bust out due to conditioning/foul proneness/attitude? problems, but it won't be because of his game. While he's not quick or vertically athletic, he's very long, can play center effectively in this league and has great instincts in disrupting with his steal/block combination, and his defensive impact is decent. Rebounds the ball well too. Offensively he fits the part with his ability to dunk and tip in at a good rate for a center, and has a budding jumper which he also takes quite a lot of (can go either way though). But still, enough tools on both ends of the court to be a good player in this league.

you obviously didnt watch him play.

One of the main reasons hayward is heralded so much is because he can create his own shot as well as handle the ball for a 6'8'' SF, which is invaluable in this league.

I think Monroe will be a solid player never getting anywhere special (hope im wrong because he'll be wearing a kings jersey tonight!)

Did everyone watch his workout video vs Whiteside etc... his defence was terrible when they were doing 3 on 3... he did have a couple of real nice post up moves though so swings and roundabouts.

biggest bust.... Whiteside i think... looks lazy on the court and im not sure he'll make the step up.

I guess it depends on what the definition of bust is. Its all about expectations based on where your drafted. Say Hayward is drafted somewhere around 14 or 15, and ends up being a Mike Miller type player. I wouldn't call him a bust then.

If I look at the players currently projected to go in the top ten, I'd say Aminu is the most likely to be a bust. More often than not the guys that end up being busts are players that are drafted on thier athletic potential and players that have no set position. Beasley springs to mind. Its the tweener guys that can't lay a claim to any spot on the floor.. Aminu fits that description at the moment.

I consider a bust a top ten pick who becomes nothing. Not even a top 8 rotation player.

Potential Candidates? Aminu, Monroe, and Favors. Aminu and Favors because they are being drafted over potential rather than production, and Monroe because his greatest strengths are things big men arent know for, and his biggest weaknesses are the things centers need.

To me, there's a lot more bust potential in this draft than last year's:

Cousins
Favors
Johnson
Monroe

Every single one of them has high bust potential if they are drafted in the top 7.
