Best player on the Kings

Who's the best player on the Kings right now?

We don't have a "best player" right now, IMHO. I'd like to see Garcia playing over Artest, but not because he's better. It's about the future and I think Garcia should be a part of it.

I actually think that the best player on the Kings this year has been the rejuvenated Brad Miller. He's shown consistency with his rebounding numbers, he initiates the offense like a point guard, sets epic screens, and he doesn't miss his free throws like most big men. His consistency overshadows the larger single game efforts of K-Mart, Ron Artest, and yes, Francisco Garcia. Not that having BM as the best player has turned the Kings into contenders, but he should get props for his consistent effort this year.

All our players are mediocre and suck, we have no best player. The only player we have that has a shot to be a good player is Spencer. Everyone else sucks.

So you are going to tell me that any of our other players would be the best player on a good team? Spencer atleast has shown the potential to be a really good offensive player with his post game, jumpshot, and overall skills. Martin fades like Peja, Artest will never be a #1 guy on a good team IMO, Bibby's gone, Miller is a #3 or #4 on a good team, Beno wouldn't even start on most teams, and our bench is the bench dude.

Francisco Garcia... START HIM PLEASE!

Aside from the dubious nature of this statement, you may note that Cisco really struggled the last couple of games, and that tonight he fouled out in 27min -- hard to play a guy any more minutes after he has 6 fouls.

Add to that the fact that Cisco will never ever ever start ahead of Ron and Kevin out there, and the basic premise of the thread is fatally flawed. I do think that Salmons has to go if Ron does not, and Cisco can be an effective if erratic 6th man if we free up those minutes as his every night.

i agree with brad miller being the best on the team. martin was the best at the start of the season, miller is more consistant now.

Always have defended Brad on this site as he is our favorite player, good or bad years. So it has been a good year for him and us. He has been the most consistent so he gets our vote as well.

I added a poll. And I made it public so anyone thinking of voting for Mikki Moore would be exposed to all the rest of us.

:p

As much as I like Kevin, the best player on the team this year is probably Brad. He has been consistent all year, from going to hoop, passing the ball, rebounding, shooting, and being faster on the court than the last two years. He’s really doing everything.

Ron Artest is and will be the best player on this team until the day we either trade him away or trade for a superstar.

Whether he is the best player for this team is another question entirely.

Ron Artest is the most dominate player because he demands a double team every time the ball goes to him in the post. But that's not main reason he's best on the Kings. He's one of the top 3 defensive players in the NBA and no one on his team is remotely capable of shutting down other teams top player the way he does rather routinely. Once Kev Martin becomes a much better defensive player, if ever, he can be considered. Once Cisco Garcia cuts down on his brain farts on the court he can be in the running since he's an excellent defensive player with great intensity and an offensive game that's clutch.

"When I put a guy in the game HE determines how long he plays." Coach Reggie Theus after his Kings beat Utah 117-104 ending their 10 game win streak.

thats very interesting. very interesting INDEED.

I agree that there isnt really a "best player" right now. Since that choice wasn't there I chose other.

My vote is for Brad Miller mainly for his consistent good play and overall contributions (points, rebounds and assists...and the occasional blocked shot) to the Kings efforts this season. Kevin Martin is very good, but has too many erratic games. Ron Artest can be a star player, but just doesn't fit into the Kings team chemistry. We don't have any "superstar" players in the league of Lebron James.

As much as I am not a fan, Artest is the best player on the team when you consider both offense AND defense. I know he stagnates the offense and quite often display reprehensible behavior. But, who else plays plays both sides as well?:(

Well, I'll give you one thing. You are officially our first Shelden Williams homer.

:)

"When [Kevin's] playing well, we don't lose," Artest continued. "He's just got to find a way. He and coach have got to find a way to make sure he's doing what he's got to do to help. He's our best player."

Heck, if Ron said it, then it must be tru. KMart is our best player.

If people were truly basing their opinions on talent alone and not letting their feelings get in the way the unanimous choice would be Ron Artest.

My question is this, Other? How can you objectively select other? What? Kenny Thomas is the Kings best player RIGHT NOW? or SAR? Oh, my bad, that's right, we just picked up Anthony Johnson...nevermind.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL hold up LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL anyways ron artest is our best player and kevin will be there as soon as he hits the weight room a little.

Artest is our best player... But Artest doesn't fit well with the team..

Personally I think Artest is probably top 20 in the league 1 on 1, but about #75-100 in top "team players".

I am not counting hustle or anything as team play, I am talking about him playing well with others, and making others around him better. That's probably his weakest attribute. He doesn't make anyone around him better. He might even hurt others by holding the ball. He holds the ball and the people around him stop moving. It's very obvious to people watching Kings games what Artest does.

Now if Artest were to leave today would the Kings have a better record here on out to the end of the season? Probably not, because Artest is good enough to carry a team on his back as a first option, and actually win some. But he has the same negative effect sometimes and causes the Kings to stagnate. So Artest is the best player on this team, but I don't believe we would be any worse without him.
