Ben McLemore in the Dunk Contest

#64
Give Ben a break, he is new at this NBA thing. Wall is in his 4th year and has an 80 million contract. No shame in losing to Wall.

The top of the "throne" (chair) Shaq sat in for the dunk Looked like it could hurt. Ben was putting a sensitive part of his body in harms way of an immovable object anchored by 300+ pounds of human. I can forgive him for missing the first dunk. Imagine if he slipped and hit the chair......OOOOOwwwwwweeeeee!!!

Wall on the other hand jumped over a normal sized human standing. If wall had slipped he knocks the guy over and they both fall. After his dunk Wall's team mates also helped him ham it up with the "impromptu" dance moves. Sometimes acting like you won is what is needed.

Would have run it different, but timing would be everything. Shaq stands there (slightly off to side, not even Vince could jump over Shaq) with ball, wearing crown. Shaq tosses the ball up, Ben flies by, grabs crown with one hand, finishes the alley oop with the other. Puts crown on head. Not sure if Ben would be coordinated enough for that or not, but it would have been cuter and cleaner than yet another park a large object in the paint and jump over it gimmick.

Yeah, there's the rub. Based on the problem Ben has holding onto the ball at times, I'm not sure I'd want him trying to grab a ball and a pointy thing at the same time. He could lose an eye.

Well he was at least coordinated enough to try a Dee Brown during warmups for the event.

The kid can jump...and he can dunk. It's just a shame he and the rest of the competitors weren't really allowed to do their thing. Luckily, it appears that the dissatisfaction with this year's format is so overwhelming there is no doubt it will be corrected before next year.

Um. Why the heck didn't the Kings send you to New Orleans with Ben!? Very creative, and 100x better then what they did. (1000x better then Gerald Green's blow out the candle dunk a couple years ago).
