Just finished reading through all of the posts here in this thread and I believe that we're all on the same page as far as what to expect from Ben this upcoming year. I've seen, however, different views in regards to his ceiling. Right now, it's reasonable to assume that his role on this team is to play defense and knock down open shots. Obviously he's not being asked to create shots for himself nor for others, he's just not there yet. We've yet to see the benefits of the hard work that he has put into his game over the summer, although there is one aspect of his game that I personally believe, pending improvement upon, can catapult his level to the likes of Jimmy Butler.
Ben's ball-handling ability is average at best, and doesn't react well under pressure. He's shown the ability to shoot on the dribble at a semi-consistent basis, which is why I believe that working on his dribble will expedite his growth process. I never want to see Ben as our primary ball-handler, however, if he was able to relieve some of that pressure from other guys, he can become tremendously useful in a multitude of different ways. As of now, if Ben catches the ball with space, I only want to see him take the shot. Imagine, however, if he had the ability to pump-fake, put the ball on the floor, and whether it be to attack the rim or create for a teammate, it opens a whole new dimension of his game and makes McLemore a much more complete player.
