I've been hearing Koufos
We just need some size to even out the roster defensively, since we don't have a lot of solid big men right now. If we get another guard first we might not get another big. I'd really like another solid guard but that's only after we get a big, if we can do it. We need the size to defend offenses. If after we get a big then I'd go for Beverley over Rondo.
Belinelli was abused in POs almost Stauskas style - Popovic had to put him back on the bench a few times. And gap in shooting/spacing is not that big.I'm not sure why some are assuming Marco is heading to the bench.
He's better than Ben. Better shooter, better ballhandler, higher IQ, better defender, better passer better spacer. Ben comes off the bench until he shows he's taken quite a jump in his level of play.
That doesn't exactly disprove the statement.Belinelli was abused in POs almost Stauskas style - Popovic had to put him back on the bench a few times.
It's big enough. And gap in shooting/spacing is not that big.
Spurs can't hide bench guy on D vs Kings having questionable D from starting SG spot. That doesn't exactly disprove the statement.
Take out Corbin era for Mclemore and he's at the same .370-.375. Under Malone Ben was .410 from 3.It's big enough.

I'm going to need you to explain why the .320 he shot from three-point range, under Malone, in his rookie year, doesn't count?Spurs can't hide bench guy on D vs Kings having questionable D from starting SG spot.

Ben shot 40.8% on wide-open 3s in his rookie season. Just didn't have the confidence, when he was closed out/contested.I'm going to need you to explain why the .320 he shot from three-point range, under Malone, in his rookie year, doesn't count?
So, contested threes don't count, either?Ben shot 40.8% on wide-open 3s in his rookie season. Just didn't have the confidence, when he was closed out/contested.
Ben not being able to shoot contested 3s as a rookie, and being capable as a sophomore explains only 32% on 3s in his first year. So, contested threes don't count, either?
I'm still not seeing how any of that refutes the notion that Belinelli is a significantly better three-point shooter than McLemore? You're basically cherry picking McLemore's greatest hits, and comparing them to Belinelli's career low.Ben not being able to shoot contested 3s as a rookie, and being capable as a sophomore explains only 32% on 3s in his first year.
Thats too much money for a player like Belinelli from my point of view.
Yes he comes from a winning culture, but he is not a very good defender.

You're creating new argument as you go along. If your contention, that there's overwelmingly much more evidence for Marco than for Ben being an excellent shooter, yes, there is. My point is that from most recent information, Ben isn't far from Marco. And for a developing just recently very raw 2 year player just averaging results over his short career not going to produce a reliable estimate of his current abilities.I'm still not seeing how any of that refutes the notion that Belinelli is a significantly better three-point shooter than McLemore? Which makes him much better fit off the bench, especially now that Beverley with his shaky playmaking looks to be the target as another PG (why would he leave starting job in Houston though, unless he's told Rockets are going after Lawson). Not just about threes with Marco. He's a smart player who can create too. He's no star, but he is one of those nice smart roleplayers that help stars win just by being out there.
Really was my hope for Stauskas, and maybe one day will be. Right now Belinelli is already there though. This is a trustworthy glue guy. Just still leaves us needing a defender back there, and with Anderson also coming unless we were to surprise and trade Ben it looks like we already have our 3 SGs for next year. Two Spurs and a Ben (unless Ben's ballhandling issues find Karl shifting him up to SF when Rudy goes to PF).
I don't think that you're clear about what is being argued here:One difference might be at Bellinelli has more tools and experience to stay on the floor longer thus more time to score more threes. Capiche?
No I'm not. My argument, which is no more and no less than Belinelli is better than McLemore, has remained consistent. You keep rationalizing McLemore's numbers, and using that rationalization to claim that McLemore isn't that far from Belinelli, and all I've said from the beginning is that he's far enough. You're creating new argument as you go along...
So do you guys think he starts or B-Mac starts?
People were too caught up with Wes and Rondo imo. Wes just tore his freakin achilles. You spend 16 mil on that and he gets injured then what happens. We're screwed and that much closer to DMC leaving.
Get three solid rotation guys that dont have ruptured achilles and we can make some noise this season. Our bench absolutely sucked last year
Coming through in the Spur of the moment?Cowbellinelli
Bellinelli on the marco!
I don't think that you're clear about what is being argued here:
I got involved with this discussion solely because @Gilles challenged the claim that Belinelli is better than McLemore, but then failed to provide any information which supports his argument. And nothing in your post supports his argument, either.
