Yea.. from the way everyone is discussing the PG need, Rondo appears to be the de facto selection. Personally I'd rather have a Jeremy Lin/CJ Watson type at a fraction of the cost.
Beverly.

But I assume Beverly (who has a history with Cuz of the not great kind) wants money too. So guys like Lin or Watson might have the advantage of being cheap enough you'd still have some left over to add a solid big.

Good signing. Now trade for McRoberts ,(hopefully Miami would throw a pick in there to rid of McRoberts contract ) resign casspi, and sign Rodney Stuckey and we will be in business.

If you think this is an overpay I don't think you've been paying attention to what is happening.

By year 3 this will be a great bargain. I think it is right now. Maybe slight overpay, but nothing to freak out about.

I mean, good for the spurs they paid him 3 or whatever. We're not the spurs. Maybe you hadn't noticed, but we play by different rules. The Vivek Ranadive incompetence tax is not cheap right now.
We didn't pay the incompetence tax on this one. This is one of the best deals thus far in this FA period. His SA platoon partner got twice as much, $11.3mil per. Afflalo got $8. Aminu got $7.5.

$6.3 anymore is a flat good deal for anybody who can walk and chew gum, and the gum chewing is optional.

Rondo is going to be 10 mil from the way it looks. Koufos for 8-9? We will have almost no money though haha.

Lin as a backup point guard is cool. Let him pick and roll all day.

I don't think Nik is any good. Didn't think so when we drafted him and dont think so now and do not think he will in the future.

We drafted the guy for shooting. Those type of players don't need time to develop. Either you got it or you don't. And stauskas didn't.

Edit. Nik could have been terrible at everything else but if he shot 39-40% from 3pt then I would have been ok with keeping him.
Didn't nik end the season shooting around 40% from 3 after karl took over?

But why would he come here? I wonder if he bought in to a team that is serious about winning?
This team IS serious about winning. Just not good at it. But hey, gross incompetence last season landed us Willie Trill. That's the first pick in a long time I've been legitimately excited about.

That's the biggest pet peeve I have about the bashing of the kings nationally. The rebuild is over. It's fill in with veteran time.

This is our Peja Stojakovic. Now we just need to find a solid PG and we're off to the races!
With the double teams that Cousins and WCS are going to force down low this kid will have
so many wide open 3's this year it's going to be lovely!

I definitely approve of this pickup!

We needed a backup SG and Belinelli fits the mold -- he's a 39% career 3pt shooter. Good system player: hits his open shots, knows his role. He's also a really poor defender but you can hide that off the bench. I would have been happier with a 2 year deal, but 3 is at least acceptable given the expected jump in salary cap over the length of it. This has to solidify Ben as the starter now, which is probably the best move we could make after Matthews turned us down. Collison and Ben are good compliments in the backcourt and I think Ben would compliment Rondo too. Ben had stretches last year where he was an elite 3pt shooter (41% in November/December). If we have both Collison and Rondo at point this year he's going to have even better shots than he had last year. Kindof a make or break year now for him. If he's going to emerge as a third option, this is his chance.

IMO the priority is to get another big man first before getting a PG
Any ideas on who? And why another big before a solid guard? Either way it's probably just small chat considering Rondo is going to sign.
I have a good feeling that he will sign within 24 hours of his visit in Sacramento today. I just hope that once he does sign, he'll realize we
have a good organization and he decides to stay here much longer than just 1 year. I was always a big fan of Rondo's when he was on the
Celtics. During our darkest days I actually rooted for the Celtics for a little while when they had Rondo, Garnett, and Ray Allen. I just
hope he can bring that same fire to Sacramento. It's all up to him!

And why has Rondo left WITHOUT signing? Kinda concerning. Hopefully not using the Kings FO as leverage to get a deal elsewhere. I mean, it's not like that's ever happened.

He's got to go get a hamburger first and think about it. The clock is ticking but I don't think him signing right away is a concern. If he doesn't sign within 48 hours though then definitely. Rondo doesn't have many options and if he truly
gets along with Cousins and wants to play with him, he'll sign. Patience! :D

I like it! I like it a lot. One of the most reasonable deals in the free agency period. Addresses a much needed need at a reasonable cost. Need to get some frontcourt help here as well.

I might be in the minority here ut I think Rondo might be a good get for us as well if we end up signing him to a reasonable deal

I've been hearing Koufos

We just need some size to even out the roster defensively, since we don't have a lot of solid big men right now. If we get another guard first we might not get another big. I'd really like another solid guard but that's only after we get a big, if we can do it. We need the size to defend offenses. If after we get a big then I'd go for Beverley over Rondo.

I'm not sure why some are assuming Marco is heading to the bench.

He's better than Ben. Better shooter, better ballhandler, higher IQ, better defender, better passer better spacer. Ben comes off the bench until he shows he's taken quite a jump in his level of play.
