Don't think I didn't catch that, hoopsy;) Much as I like you, as a laker fan and all, you ARE free to return to LA (that 'wonderful' bastion of high desert, complete with fake boobs, HORRID traffic, plastic people and water from our 'ugly' side of the state)
You poor, poor thing, trapped here with the trees and the really cool people. Makes me shed a tear sometimes;)

Believe me..I am trapped here..makes me shed a tear sometimes too. ;)

(Sorry..should have been a ;) in my originl post.)

Am I the only one who finds that Burger King king enormously creepy in his new commericals? Dead silent, always popping up in strange places staring at people. Its like Michael Myers as a pitchman.

No, you are not the only one. I find him creepy beyond words. I mean, Jack of Jack-in-the-Box is a mask, he's silly. (Altho I remamber the disaster of the commercials blowing up the clown that terrified kids, lol.) The Burger King guy is just deeply disturbing. Shows up in my neighborhood  , I'm calling the cops.

Yeah, probably from laughing at us Kings fans over the years, because we've never won anything, and you all have 14 titles to fall back on. Sigh.....I digress.:(

I actually like Breton, he's not a parroter and that's rather rare in the sports media world. Plus, the picture of Goldmember next to Peja on the front of the sports page cracked me up.

That didn't come from me...I'm not even that mean.:o

Marcos Breton has filled the gap left in the Sports section by the departure of the other true Maloof hater, RE Graswich.

It's not about the issue with Breton. It's about having another opportunity to take shots at the team ownership. The main difference IMHO is that while a lot of us absolutely HATE the "gold standard" marketing concept, we still love our Kings. Breton would dance gleefully in the streets if they moved to Kansas City ... or Peoria ... or Nome.

Not sure why, but some of these writers make it a personal vendetta. Graswich did it, and now Breton. Maybe they didn't like their press seats???

Anyway, the bottom line for me is that, marketing strategies aside, I am still very grateful to the Maloofs for what they've done for our team. Yeah, this was a big mistake but someday we might just look back on it with fondness:

Hey, 2005-2006. That was the year that started out with that stupid "gold standard" fiasco and ended with us winning the championship!

GO KINGS!!!!!

If wearing that ugly jersey means we'll win a championship then I say go for it!

I didn't mean they'd continue with the idea of wearing those things, loopy... I was saying that it would be great if we could look upon this season as the one that started with the "gold" but ended with the GOLD (as in O'Brien trophy). I certainly still care about the Kings having to wear those awful things...

;)

Breton seized upon this issue, not because he cares but because it was a way for him to make some pithy comments at the Maloofs' expense. Breton doesn't like the Maloofs; he's made in pretty apparent in previous articles that he would not object to them moving the Kings out of Sacramento.

That's always bothered me. It's a personal thing with Breton, just as it was with RE Graswich. For some reason I have never figured out, there are just some writers who want to put themselves above the fans, the team, the city, etc. AND they manage to find a way to do it as though they were only trying to "be fair" and present another side to an issue.

Graswich was long gone from the sports page when the Maloofs bought the team in 98', but he has definetely sunk his teeth into them in his editorials in the Metro section of the Bee. Having to read his work during the early years of the Kings in Sacramento has kind of given me a laughable look at sports writers in general, only because R.E. is such a synic. But as bad of a team as we were while he was the beat writer for the team, we deserved all that stuff he said, there really wasnt much good to write about, and that pretty much gave R.E. free will to write what he wanted and saw. I enjoyed Marty Mac the last 10 years or so he was the beat writer, he definetely is a class act, good or bad...hell, he actually became somewhat of a 'homer'(even though he's from NY) when he predicted the Kings to win the title back in 2002-03. Those were fun times. I do like Sam Amick's work so far, and am interested in seeing what kind of approach he takes in his writing about our team upcoming.

Oops. I should have said "other true Kings hater, RE Graswich." ;)

As far as Graswich went, I'm sorry but I think (even as bad as the Kings were) he took way too much glee in being nasty...

I enjoy Kreidler, Amick, Davidson and Marty. I think Marty may have really found his niche with his new gig.

I don't know that I will ever look back on it with fondness!;)

I am glad that the Maloofs are trying. I do think that they are among the best owners in sports (esp. BBall). They may be a little out of touch, but at least they care enough to make an effort.

As fans when the Kings wear these baby poo "unis" it will be our responsiblity to bring paper bags to wear over our heads in protest. Not because the kings are playing like crap, but because they are sporting baby crap colors that directly represent our team and city.

This post wins the thread...IMHO.

Baby poo? What a perfect description.

eh...okay I guess...still ugly as hell, but not as bad as the screenshots on the NBA Live game that were posted earlier. Definetely dont look like LA jerseys as once thought...but still look like something out of Dance Fever or something.

I guess...I just wish they would take the bull by the horns a bit more as owners with the whole arena thing, especially if they really love this city like they say. Anyways, wrong topic, I know.;)
