Move of the day

Point guard Ronnie Price dove at halfcourt to intercept a pass, then got the ball back off a tip as he broke for the basket. The 6-foot-2 rookie finished the play that he started, dunking left-handed from the right side with Mike Bibby on his heels.

Battling Bonzi

The kudos keep rolling in for second-year guard Kevin Martin. After Day 1, it was center Brad Miller hailing the young one for his progress. After Day 3, it was fellow shooting guard Bonzi Wells. "Kevin's been killing me," Wells said. "He's got that young boy energy. He's 21 or 22 (actually 22), and he hasn't logged that many games on those legs, so he's like a whirlwind up and down the court. It sometimes takes a young pup like that to help an old veteran like me keep my intensity high."

Camping with Francisco García

The moves have only gotten longer for the Kings rookie, who took his bags from the Dominican Republic to the Bronx as a teenager and now finds himself in Sacramento. After another day of energy and execution, the 6-foot-7 guard-forward out of Louisville stepped aside to discuss lighter matters. Q: You're a Red Sox fan despite having lived blocks away from Yankee stadium. How did that happen?

A: They've got a lot of Dominicans on the team. They're my friends ...

Q: How are you handling yourself with the Red Sox down 0-2 in the playoffs?

A: Oh, it's OK. With what happened last year, we've got a lot of experience. I'm not worried about it.

Q: Did you ever play baseball?

A: Yeah, third base. Never played here in America, though.

Q: Now that you're settled in Sacramento, what do you do in your spare time?

A: Just be here in the gym and get my rest. Just focus on the season coming up.

Key dates

Saturday: Regular-season tickets on sale. Tuesday: Preseason opener vs. Dallas at Arco Arena.

Oct. 16: Vs. Golden State - Good test against team that beat Kings four of five times, including preseason, in 2004-05.

Oct. 28: at Lakers (Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas) - The Maloofs' least favorite team in one of their favorite cities.

Oct. 31: Rosters set for regular season - Official cut day.

Where else would Mike be while playing defense? :)

If Price can do those kinds of things consistently (steals and finishing the break), he's probably a keeper.

Atleast Mike's close to the heels.

I love what I'm hearing bout Kevin. Looks like it's time for him to shine.

No, No Mike Bibby said no one in the NBA can guard a guy ,one on one ...so its not really his fault... its the teams fault :D

sounds like a great leader to me

I could care less about my pg dunking, but when was the last time we had a pg who defended?

AJ in the mid 90s?
(of course he could neither pass nor shoot... but, you know...DEFENSE!)

Kevin Martin's year is next year. He starts next year. I can almost put money on it. It seems as though the Kings have been making looking at him as the future. When I heard they were giving him Tayshaun Prince footage to watch it was apparent to me that they were serious about him.

How can you put money on it when you haven't even seen him play a second this year? I understand that there is a lot of hype surruounding him goint into the season, but this is the same guy who didn't even make the playoff roster 4 months ago. I want Kevin to succeed just as much as you do and although I'm optimistic that he will be as good as advertised, he still has a long way to go. Additionally, who's to say that Bonzi doesn't have a phenominal year and reups with the Kings next season?

Spud Webb. Mike used to dunk in college though.

I don't think Spud Webb ever dunked while he was on the Kings. By the time he played for Sacramento he was too old. He tried a few times but I remember them being kind of fakey dunks and he never really got himself above the rim.

I've seen Bibby dunk in warmups. But the last real dunk I remember from a Kings point guard was when Jason Williams threw one down over (I think) Mario Elie on a fastbreak against the Spurs. One of the best Kings dunks I've seen, it caught Elie completely by surprise.

Enough of it. Why are you guys going after Bibby? I do not understand how some people work I guess.

Cuz he had a turnover in training camp and couldn't get back to stop a guy from scoring. That proves he's not a leader...

Just for the record, Spud did dunk once, and only once, in a Kings uni. I was at that game.:)

I thought that was Rip's footage that they gave him. Either ways its a sign that the Kings are putting time in his development. And indicates a lot of good things for him

Bobby Jackson. Soon to be Jason Hart, and probably Ronnie Price. Hopefully Bibby :).
