Kings113

All-Star
Just said in his first comments, first person to talk after Ernie "I think Minnesota need to move KG" "Somebody needs to make a blockbuster deal in the NBA" "Give him a chance to win". Some more too.

edit: (Interview aired) Now Kenny thinks he sounds frustrated, and wants to be traded, Charles as well. I kinda think so also, especially from that interview piece.

Just found it interesting, and never heard anyone on TV say it or talk about it at all.

He's owed $84 mill over the next four seasons. If Minny wants to rebuild then it will be very difficult to do it while doling out 20 plus mill a year to one player, albeit, one of the best players.

Do you think Minnesota will take KT, Corliss and Skinner for KG? Nah nobody would take those three for a franchise player... oh wait!

Webb was far from a franchise player when the Kings traded him, much less the best or second best PF in the game right now.

Peja + Bibby or Miller for KG? Yes please.

Peja + bench filler? In a heartbeat (Minny wouldn't do it)

He was still worth a hell of a lot more than what we got. But thats another thread.

Peja + bench filler? - I wish.

Peja + Miller + the Sacramento Kings Dance Team + Grant Napear + whatever else it takes = GIT ER DUN!!!

;)

I wouldn't trust much of what Charles and Kenny would have to say about what could/should happen. If it were to happen it is going to take at least two of our "core" three to get him in Sac.

17,6,6 at half time for KG tonight.

Peja and filler would be nice. Peja and Miller/Bibby would be ok too. Still dont think that makes us favorites of anything for the championship or even close. Still not enough defense and a poor bench.

I like KG but who exactly would score if you trade all three of those guys?

KG had some nice pieces around him and couldn't get it done. I'm not sure why people think KG and a a bunch of second teamers makes us any better.

Don't get me wrong, if KG is ACTUALLY on the market then you have to look at every option. However, just having KG without the right support cast just makes us Minnesota.

Hey Bonzi and SAR might be able to score. But if we do trade the core or end up trading Bibby as part of the core we better get back a PG.

When KG was asked by Cheryl Miller about Charles' comments a few minutes ago he thanked Charles but told him to stop making controversy and throwing dirt on his clean house...I love it!

He also said "This is my situation". :P

But yeah, that was a good line by Kay Gee.

Charles repeated similar comments as he did in the beginning of the show.

I mean Peja and Miller OR Bibby. Not all 3, not worth it.

Griffin played the 3 in Houston, so I would rather have him as a backup instead of Thomas just to get some other perimeter game into the rotation besides Bibby. Which would leave Thomas with less minutes. Griffin is only a year older than Martin, he would be a better long term investment than Thomas (as long as he keeps his head straight).

--Wolves Rotation--

PG: Marko Jaric/ Troy Hudson/ Anthony Carter/ Rashard MsCants
SG: Trenton Hassell/ Rashard McCants/ Richie Fram
SF: Peja Stojakovic/Wally Sczcerbiak/Corliss Williamson/ Rene Dupree
PF: Mark Madsen/Corliss Willamson/Micheal Olowokandi
C: Brad Miller/Micheal Olowokandi

I messed with your line up. Madsen and Miller doesn't look too attractive tough.

So much depends on what Minnesota would be looking for, if they are looking at all.

A few thoughts:

1) if the Wolves were looking for ending contracts, we can provide a pair in Peja/Bonzi that just about matchup and are about as talented as any pair of ending contracts in the league. But I think the ending contract approach would be really stupid on Minny's part unless they were also getting back young players/picks. Peja/Bonzi/Martin/#1 or something? Who knows. Do wonder about Minnesota's thoughts on Bonzi after the Latrell experience. They may also like to move the bad Hudson contract for additional caproom even if caproom is not their main focus.

2) If the Wolves were looking to compete in the here and now, I've mentioned before that we can put together one of the best packages in the NBA. Not only two of our talented starters, and MAYBE even three, but we have a wannabe starting PF on the bench too in KT. Peja/Miller/KT or Miller/Bibby/Kt etc. etc. type deals. where they get a new team and we still have more than enough talent to be seriously dangerous. SAR is attractive to both sides just because of the small contract, and could be a KG replacement if they really are trying to rebuild on the run (although I'm sure they are as aware as everybody else of his history).

3) The problem comes if they are looking to pull in as many young studs as they can. Then a team like Chicago becomes a frontrunner, and we really have nothing. Martin an Garcia are throw in type youngsters, not guys you can feature to bring back KG. So if that's what they're after, without the caproom bonus we can provide, then we are toast. Rem that Chicago has a huge ender in Thomas as well as young players all over the place.

4) The players who work best in our system are of course the old holdovers -- Bibby, Miller, Peja. If you add KG while keeping "the core" (who are in fact nothing more than the old support players) then you have largely turned back the clock and are trying to put together another Princeton contender.

5) Apart from the Princeton, Bibby would be a beautiful match for KG as a PG, with KG playing a lot like Webb and Bibby playing a lot like Brandon and Cassel -- perfect pick and roll pairing. You have to wonder how Peja would work with KG given that he chafed at Webb's presence. Miller = an ok fit restoring the Vlade/Webb frontcourt passers, but this time without either guy really liking to work from the post.

6) So much smoke, but who knows whether there is any fire? I will say this -- if there IS a fire, and Geoff isn't right in there throwing logs onto it, I'd be very surprised. Suprised enough I'd probably fire his *** if I were a Maloof actually. An interest in KG if he's available should be a no brainer for anyone, but for this system? There simply is no more perfect player, let alone star, for the system in the entire NBA. Its a softball pitch which Slamson could probably recognize. Maybe even Jerry Reynolds. (Maybe. ;) ).

In KG trade scenario I think minnesota will try to shipp hudson or wally too...in that case kings have two options: miller+peja or miller+biby

My ideal trade situation to get KG would be to swing a three-four team deal and get KG plus either Earl Watson or Andre Miller, who legitimately might be available.

Must say that I would also give up Peja + Miller to get KG. What a great talent and leader. Would love to see him in a Kings uniform and build around him!!

Who do the Lakers have who they can trade for KG? I dont see them trading Kobe

Nobody really -- Lakers fanboys have always been hopeful, but its just not there UNLESS the lakers came forward and offered up:

Odom
Bynum
Kwame or Mihm
+mayeb a pick or something.

Depending on how you assess those players' potentials, maybe.

In any case the Knicks or L.A. sounds like old conspiracy stuff. Its not up to Stern. And not up to KG. Nor do I think he really cares so long as he finds a way to win. And since any deal to a non-lottery team would involve matching salaries, not as if those team's willingness to absorb salary makes a difference either.

if the kings were to trade for KG, i would hope they would include thomas in the deal. not sure if that would happen, but i would hope for it.

work your magic geoff.

it's all i want for christmas :D

LA maybe. They could offer up two picks (theirs and Miami's from the Shaq deal, Bynum, Odom and change) which would give the Wolves a guy with potential and a guy who provides some of what Garnett does, albeit at a much lower level. Still, I can't see that happening. Better deals would be available and I think McHale is loathe to improve his old nemesis the Lakers.

On the other hand, the Knicks could put together a VERY attractive package. They can offer up their three rookies (Frye, Robinson and Lee each of whom has looked good at various times this season), some draft picks (assuming Zeke hasn't traded them all away) and Penny Hardaway's expiring contract.

If I'm the T'Wolves and the situation arises where KG has to be moved, this would be the type of package I would look for. Perhaps another team could do the Knicks one better, but I think young players, picks and cap space are what Minny will be seeking. Plus, it would reunite KG and Marbury again. I loved watching that the first time around.
