Artest singing "Back Home Again in Indiana"?

Okay, I'm bored and perusing the PacersDigest board because... well, I like the PD board and have a warm spot in my heart for the Pacers.

So what do I see?

According to one of their members, Ron Artest is in Indianapolis and was spotted at one of the local gyms:

(Artest is back in town), playing ball up at Lifetime Fitness last night.

You'll never guess who he wants to play for next season (at least that is what he was jabbering about) - THE PACERS! He was going on and on about how much he loved the city, etc, etc. Apparently he is under the illusion that the Pacers are in the hunt to land him. He denied the Miami rumors and confirmed the NYC rumors.

He seemed really upbeat. Genuinely nice guy.

To say I was surprised is an understatement. I honestly didn't think the Pacer fans would want him to return. Maybe we can convince them (sneakily, of course) that this is their chance to get even with us?

Ditto. And I cannot imagine JO playing with Artest.

And... whom do we want from them? They're stuck with huge contracts with mediocre talents. Personally I like Foster, but you know, we have logjam in frontcourt.

Ah, I finally the solution to all problems.

Artest+KT+Miller (?) <-> JO + a bad contract

Ok. It's a kidding. :D Don't be upset Pacers fans (partially including me).

One brave soul suggested JO to us for Artest, KT and Martin. I didn't bother to check to see if the numbers would work because I don't see it ever happening. For one thing, I think Larry Bird and Donnie Walsh would end up tarred and feathered if they tried to bring Artest back, promises of good behavior not withstanding.

There's a poll in another thread, BTW, asking if people want him back. Current tally is 27-43, with the "No" leading. I confess to voting "Yes" because sending him back to Indiana would get him out of here.

Oh, yeah. One other generous guy wanted to give us Dunleavy for him.

;)

IMO, the deal including Martin will not work, because he's currently under cheap contract.

And... Voila~ Dunleavy.

According to hoopshype (http://hoopshype.com/players/mike_dunleavy.htm

Good fundamentals, Decent shooter and good passer, nice ballhandling skills for his size, plays smart, a little bit slow, very soft, gets overpowered, must be more consistent

He is a typical favorites of Petrie. :D

Well... It's TDOS. I'm tired. Forgive me.

My point wasn't to start another trade thread. ;)

I was simply reporting on Artest's apparent comments to the folks back home. It seems to me as though he's still the same old Ron. And I really truly feel sorry for him because I firmly believe he'll never be able to separate his basketball skills from his trainwreck tendencies.

That is just about inconceivable that they would have an interest in him.

Pretty much best case scenario here is its Ron talking out of his *** (shocker) about the various things his multiple personalities want on any given day.

The continuing interest in New York is of note though. Given that a) those expirings in New York jsut became tradeable; and b) that Ron is perfectable capable of opting out of his contract next year to go play for the Knicks with us getting nothing back.

I'm pretty sure his Wife is living back in Indiana with his kids as they moved back there in the offseason.
