i would only trade artest for maggette if we got a first round pick out of it... otherwise trade artest for a young, promising big man

One of those things that need some more choices I think. Lot of variables, and probably relatively few people thinking a straight up deal actually makes us better. Just a question of what else is added inot the offer, who else is offering what, what Ron's mental state truly is, what direction ar we taking the franchise (floundering isn't a direction) etc..

Yep. I'm just trying to get a high level feel for what people think here about a trade involving these 2 guys. There could probably be 15 or more different scenarios listed in a poll.

All of this has stemmed from the guy missing two games with bad knees...After that, everyone had to dig for everything, and twist and skewer it to make it seem like all hell has broken loose.

As I've said ealrier, if this was someone else, nothing would be said...I want to know what happened to Ron's "clean slate" that some people were saying they gave him?

Maybe I'm naieve, but Im going to wait until he is quoted as saying "Get me out of here" before I just down his throat.

Tht being said, no deal...Mags + Livingston, maybe...Definatly not straight up.

Same thing I was thinking.

If some people are voicing concerns, they're certainly within their rights to do so, SLAB. And yes, I think you're being incredibly naive if you're going to wait until he actually says "Get me out of here" before you admit to any potential problems.

As far as this poll goes, I agree with Bricklayer.

Or fewer qualifications for the options provided. Stick to a "yes" or "no" for the particular trade, and let people explain their reasoning in the thread.

But... that's just my (now completely useless) suggestion.

Yup as far as the poll I cannot answer either of those questions, because so much depends on Rons mental state right now. Like I said he is going to drop about 40 tonight. Just watch

Ron really hates losing. Overall that is a great trait but it is a sucky trait to have while the team is making an honest effort at rebuilding. If we can turn things around for next season I would hate to lose him.

If there really is a Bibby/Ron rift you gotta get rid of Bibby. Ron is a unique player who brings tools to the game that are a lot harder to acquire than that of Bibby or Maggette.

If we have to trade Ron to the Clippers I'd rather have Livingston and Kaman, I'm not particularly high on either of them but at least we'd get a serviceable big man and a young PG with unique physical gifts.

A draft pick too would be fantastic but I think I'd just do it straight up at this point. The Artest train is rumbling downhill and the end of the line is his contract is up and he bolts. And it could come off the tracks worse before then. :)

So why not, Maggette is a tradeable piece and Brad and Mike might remember some plays to get him shots, we could get him 25ppg and trade him at the deadline for something else. The alternative is to continue to gamble when we could lose everything and gain, well, not much more. Or we can walk away with Maggette and say it wasn't a bad deal for Peja.

I haven't seen him much but he rebounds, gets some assists, gets to the line and could easily mesh with the players we have. Those would be some quite nice numbers projected out to 40 minutes a game.

I see Maggette as a better player to build with in the long run. Though he's probably not a franchise player like Artest is, I don't see winning in the short term as being particularly possible or even desirable. I'd much rather we take the long term view and grab players that have a negligible chance of blowing up in the next 3 or 4 years.

I support the Sacramento Kings, no matter if there are trades or not. :D
