AriesMar27 said:yes this team will make the playoffs.... my thing is, who can we bring in this summer to help us? are there any other webbers and divacs out there that we can trade for? if mobley isnt coming back what type of position does that put us in? if we could trade mobley for artest and trade thomas, skinner and daniels for boozer.... then maybe, hell... we'd be a better team than the 2002 and 2003 squads....

We're going to have a VERY long summer to talk about future trades, etc. and I think there are already some threads on those.
Thanks.
GO KINGS!!!

The only teams in the west with current losses
Dallas - 2 games
Houston - 1
Portland - 3
Utah - 1
KINGS - 3

Five teams are posting the same or WORSE last 10 record in the West ...sheesh... 7th best record in the NBA and all of a sudden the team we all profess to love is crap?
I don't buy it, just like I don't buy that the Kings had a realistic chance to get past the second round in the PO before the trades. Yeah, it's a lot more fun to watch and root for this team when they are playing well and winning but I still do it when they aren't.
It's almost like some fans want to see the TEAM do badly now and to suggest they tank the rest of the season to enter the lottery? I never thought I'd see true Kings fans suggest it at this point in the season. Do I think it happens? Probably. But I never thought I'd see it here on this board.![]()

VF21 said:Look at the Kings record against OTHER TEAMS in the West. You can talk about current league records, etc. but the cold, harsh reality is that we are not going into the playoffs in great shape to beat OTHER WESTERN TEAMS!!
The team that compiled the record that enabled them to be 5th in the league no longer exists.
G_M said:Yeah, but that "TEAM" had a crappy record against the West. I guess my point is that pre trade or post trade they struggled against quality teams.

I was just pointing out current streaks. I would wager to guess you cannot find to many posts were I criticized the coaches or players (cept tag and house )... In fact I bet 99% of the time its the exact opposite.
With that said ... I am all GO KINGS but I am also realistic about things as they are unfolding right now. As I said yesterday, this upcoming home stand is going to really define the season. We will see what this current group can do after some practice and home crowd lovn.
Bricklayer said:You act as if that is disloyalty -- hardly. It is being smart -- I was here before we were good, and I will still be here after this era is over. I've watched the Knicks be IDIOTS for years like a stupid hamster on a wheel -- always chasing chasing chasing and never once taking a step back and saying we're being stupid here, lets be smart and plan for the future. And so they never get good, and gee, what a shocker.
If you are toast in a season, takes some guts to admit it and to take steps to help yourself the next season. We are unlikely to slide all the way to #8/#9 barring a collapse, but if we DO collapse that badly, the smart move (or at least A smart move), the move you make because you DO love your team and want to see them succeed going into the future, would be to drop an extra game or two and get that lottery pick. This is being smart. This is planning for the future (my only objection beign because it taints the competitive balnce of th league). If we collapse, this team as currently constructed is not coming back anyway, we'll need major rebuilding, and a good strong draft pick wil help fill at least one hole on the new roster.
Now if we show signs of life, fine. Hang in there and see what happens. who knows, maybe all of the top teams suffer devastating inujuries or whatnot. But if there is no life, then be smart, give it up, and come back stronger next year than if you played the hamster.
SacTownKid said:Then again, do we need any earth shattering moves in the offseason to be "contenders"?
SacTownKid said:I personally don't think the Kings are going after the draft pick route. The draft hasn't been all that strong in the past years so the odds of finding that "missing" link are not that great. Could it happen? sure. The Kings may make some earth shattering move in the offseason, but then again they might not. Then again, do we need any earth shattering moves in the offseason to be "contenders"? I hate to compare ourselves to any other teams but look at Seattle. They were projected to be a cellar dweller this season and they are one of the best teams in the league! The Kings may have all the talent they need and may not go after a big name guy because they simply don't have too.
